Red Cross Assisting

The American Red Cross is helping 26 after three separate fires today/yesterday in Ansonia, Danbury and Bridgeport.

The Red Cross is helping:

  •  Four families – 13 adults – two children after a fire Friday on Liberty Street, Ansonia.
  • One family – 5 adults – 1 child after a fire today on Fleetwood Drive, Danbury.
  • One family – 5 adults after a fire today on Eric Street, Bridgeport.

 

In each instance, the Red Cross provided assistance to meet the families’ immediate needs. Responders included: Missy Lundeen, Ryan Lundeen, Rhonda Rossik, Catherine Rossik, Amy Thomas, John Lennon, Gabriel Gillotti, Mike Vincelli,  Ed Murphy, Bianca Perez and Frank Cassella.

The Red Cross is also providing comfort kits containing personal care items such as toothbrushes, deodorant; shaving supplies and other items a resident might not have been able to gather in the rush to escape the fire. In addition, a recovery envelope containing information helpful to families recovering from a fire, including tips on cleanup; notification of important contacts; dealing with damaged items and more was provided.

Those affected will meet with Red Cross caseworkers in the coming days to work on a longer-term recovery plan. The Red Cross is able to provide assistance through the generosity of our donors and the commitment of our volunteers.

Bridgeport News: Rollover On North Avenue

12:55pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A person was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital after a rollover accident on North Avenue between Norman and Park Avenue.  The southbound lane was temporarily closed.

 

Bridgeport News: Shots Fired

11:11pm—#Bridgeport Connecticut– Multiple calls for shots fired in the 1100 block of Hancock Avenue near Maplewood and  Beechwood Avenue.   So far now one reorted hit.  One woman is reporting a bullet hole in her apartment.

Bridgeport News: Police Activity

3:24pm–#Bridgeport Connectictuy– There is police activity at Railroad and Norman  Street.  Police have two people in custody after a brief foot pursuit.  They were wanted for bailing out of a stolen car.  K-9 caught the second suspect near Park Avenue and took a bite out of crime.

State Senator Moore’s Listening Tour

#Bridgeport Connecticut–#Trumbull Connecticut–Monroe Connecticut–Sen. Moore will be hosting listening tours on Governor Dannel Malloy’s $40 billion proposed state budget in Bridgeport, Trumbull, and Monroe. Sen. Bridgeport Issues City Service Cancellations

#Bridgeport, CT – In anticipation of the pending winter storm expected to impact Bridgeport beginning early tomorrow morning, sanitation and recycling pickup has been postponed for Friday, March 10, 2017 to Saturday, March 11, 2017. The Transfer Station located on 475 Asylum Street will also be closed tomorrow, and will reopen on Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

 

The Bridgeport Emergency Operation Center (EOC) continues to monitor the approaching storm that is anticipated to bring with it snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches. Based on the forecast, snow and mix could impact our area as early as 10pm Thursday and last up until 5pm Friday. Peak Storm Timing: 1am until 9am Friday.
