18 Wheeler Crashes Early Morning On Route 8
Early morning around 6:20AM a tractor trailer crashed on Route 8 Northbound by exit 22-23. The cause of the crash and extent of injures is unknown at this time.
Shooting in Bridgeport
First responders are on scene to a reported shooting that occurred around the area of 500 Laurel Ave and 100 Grove Street in Bridgeport. There is at least one victim who was shot possibly in the hip according to initial unconfirmed radio reports. 18-Year-Old Killed in Catherine Street Shooting
Bridgeport police are investigating the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Leon Richardson, who was found inside a Honda on Catherine Street Monday evening. Officers responded around 6:45 p.m. after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a man bleeding inside a vehicle. Richardson was found in the driver’s seat with a head wound and was pronounced dead at the scene. This is Bridgeport's 5th homicide of 2026 An anonymous witness told DoingItLocal that a red sedan was traveling on Catherine Street toward Harral Avenue when shots were fired. The witness said the sedan then fled toward Harral Avenue in the direction of the highway. BRIDGEPORT POLICE INVESTIGATING MONDAY NIGHT HOMICIDE ON CATHERINE STREET
The Bridgeport Police Department is investigating the death of a Bridgeport man found shot inside of a car in The Hollow section of the city on Monday night. At approximately 6:45 p.m., dispatchers received multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire and a man bleeding inside of a car on Catherine Street. Responding patrol officers found 18-year-old Leon Richardson in the driver's seat of a Honda with a head wound. He was later pronounced deceased at the scene. The homicide occurred midway between Washington Avenue and Harral Avenue on Catherine Street. Catherine Street was closed for several hours while the Major Crimes Unit processed the scene. Two Burglaries
Police are investigating a residential burglary at the 100 block of Catherine Street, and a commercial burglary at the 200 block of Kossuth Street in Bridgeport. Both occurred at around 12:30PM. There is no additional information at this time.
Fire Displaces Three
Bridgeport firefighters quickly extinguished a third-floor bathroom fire at 146 George Street around 3:45 p.m. Assistant Fire Chief Andrew Ellis said Bridgeport police officers were already evacuating residents when firefighters arrived and successfully got everyone out safely.The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes and did not spread beyond the bathroom. No injuries were reported, but three adults were displaced and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
Two Burglaries In The Morning
At around 10 AM A residential home at the 100 block of Goddard Ave in Bridgeport was reported to be burglarized. Later, at around 11:30 AM a commercial building at the 2100 block of Boston Ave was also reported to be burglarized. It is unknown at this time if these are connected or two separate incidents, and Bridgeport Police are investigating.
Man Arrives at Hospital with Gun Shot Wound
Last night at around midnight, one person arrived at Bridgeport Hospital with a gunshot wound. At this time it is not known where the shooting occurred, and Bridgeport Police are investigating.
