Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo Welcomes Six Piglets

BRIDGEPORT, Connecticut - May 15, 2015 -Hampton J. Pig and Olivia have done it again - welcoming a litter of six again this year - the sixth year in a row these lovers have produced piglets. Hampton and Olivia are both eight years old Guinea Hogs. The six piglets, as well as their parents, are currently on exhibit at the Zoo through the summer season. Visitors are invited to come to the Zoo to meet the rambunctious new additions to the Zoo's family.   "All of the piglets are doing well and spend their days eating, sleeping and playing with their siblings," reported Zoo Director Gregg Dancho.   The piglets range in weight from just under one pound to two pounds.…

Fire Destroys 3 Family Bridgeport Home

6:40pm--#Bridgeport CT--Firefighters were called to a 3 family house fire at 1775 Noble Avenue.  3 people passing by stopped and knocked on doors getting everyone out to safety.  I tried to interview them but they were just too humble, the great spirit and character I mentioned in an earlier editorial which makes Bridgeport great.    Witnesses tell me the fire started in the 2nd floor back porch and spread to the rest of the apartment building.  Firefighters had the upper hand of the fire in less than an hour and spend the next couple of hours chasing hot spots and overhauling the fire.  There were no reported injuries.  The fire marshal has been called to the scene to investigate the…

Mayor Finch Announces New Movie Theatre, Cinépolis, Coming to Steelpointe Harbor

Mayor Bill Finch announced that Cinépolis USA, a luxury cinema complex, will build a 50,000 square foot cinema at Bridgeport’s Steelpointe Harbor, projected to open in 2017. He was joined by former Bridgeport Mayor’s Leonard Paoletta, Tom Bucci, and John Fabrizi, as well as several other elected officials, community and business leaders, and trade union representatives.   "This is great news, serving as further proof that Bridgeport is getting better every day," said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch. Bridgeport News: Motorcycle Hits Police Car

8:03pm--#Bridgeport CT--Police were in a brief pursuit from East Main and Arctic area to Boston Avenue after the motorcyclist hits a police car in the door.  The pursuit ended when police lost him in the Boston Avenue area.  An officer on patrol spotted the bike a short time later going about 100 mph but did not attempt to pursue.    Police found the bike, a blue Suzuki abandoned near the CVS.   This report sponsored by:
