Drone Assists Fairfield Firefighters

VIDEO REPORT--#Fairfield CT--Assistant Fire Chief Chris Tracy of the Fairfield Fire Department took time out his busy schedule to tell us how a drone assisted them in fighting the lumberyard fire Wednesday. Bridgeport Firefighter Keith Muratori (Rescue 5) has assisted firefighters in Bridgeport and neighboring towns with his drone to give firefighters a real time assessment of a fire's progress from above. In this instance the quonset hut style warehouses were abandoned and firefighters only attempted an exterior attack so as not to risk their well being.   The aerial footage provided incident commander and firefighters in real time where hot spots were, if their streams were being effective or if they resources should be directed elsewhere. Volunteers Renovate Community Center

How about some likes for the volunteers that helped renovate the lobby at the Hall Neighborhood House on George Pipkin Way? Video Report--#Bridgeport CT--The BRBC's Leadership of Greater Bridgeport (LGB) Project Group hosted an unveiling of the lobby renovations at Hall Neighborhood House on Wednesday.  Robert Dzurenda, Hall Neighborhood House Development Director, and LGB's Project Group cut the ribbon cutting.   The renovations were done by volunteers  and funded by Aquarion, Home Depot, BioMetrics, TD Bank and Bigelow Tea to name a few.   Hall Neighborhood House provides a host of social and educational programs that benefit the lives of children, youth, families and senior citizens in Bridgeport and the surrounding communities.

Fairfield News: Massive Fire

Special Thanks to Paul and Beth for their hospitality in letting me record in their backyard to get this amazing footage. At 7:05pm Fairfield's Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting smoke visible rising from the southernmost warehouse on the site of the former Fairfield Lumber. Fairfield Fire Engines 1, 2, 4, 5, Ladders 1, 2 and Car 3 were dispatched, with Lt Jay Swindon on Engine 2 first on scene confirming a working structure fire. Assistant Chief Erik Kalapir arrived on scene shortly and assumed command, calling for Engine 3 and an additional Ladder from Bridgeport. Bridgeport Fire Ladder 11 was dispatched, with Engine 10, Ladder 10, Safety 1 and Battalion 1 added to the assignment by Command. Fairfield…

Bridgeport News: Police Crime Scene Van at Greene Homes

UPDATE: Police spokesman Tim Hammoll returned my call and said there is an investigation taking place, there is no death at the building.  This and a DOA (dead on arrival) call have been on the radios since this morning, I probably blended the calls since I don't usually report DOA's. #Bridgeport CT--A person was found dead in their apartment at Greene Homes Building 4 on the 7th floor.  It does not appear to be a crime but detectives are on scene investigating, that's why the Bridgeport Police Crime Scene van is out there.  If I get any updates I'll let you know.   This report sponsored by:
