This morning, a fire was reported at a multi-family house at 100 Lindley Street. The Bridgeport Fire Department has been on the scene – including Deputy Chief Robert Petrucelli and Assistant Chief Michael Caldaroni – and the building has been evacuated.
“This is yet another unfortunate fire in our city over the past several days. It’s also another example of our Fire Department and community coming together to ensure the safety of those who are put in harm’s way,” said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch.
The front porch of the house has collapsed, but the fire is under control and there’s no damage to the surrounding buildings.
There were four civilian injuries, and all have been escorted to either Bridgeport Hospital or St. Vincent’s. Two female occupants jumped from the second floor window sustaining neck and back injuries. One female occupant ran out the front door and was injured slipping on ice. And, one male occupant was disoriented and successfully evacuated out of the front door by the Bridgeport Fire Department.
The Greater Bridgeport Transit Authority is on the scene and keeping those who have evacuated warm in the midst of cold weather conditions. A Mass Care and Rehab Staging Area is set up at the corner of River St. and Winston St. The Red Cross has also mobilized to help those displaced by the fire.
9:30ish–#Bridgeport CT–Firefighters are once again at the scene of a fire that destroyed an apartment house at 100 Lindley Street (near Chapin & Bangs Steel). Twitter account @Fire Watch reports a person was trapped on the second floor. There are no reports of injuries at this time. This is breaking news and any or all the report is subject to change. I’ll update this as soon as we receive a press release from the fire department.

3:22pm–#Bridgeport CT–Engine 7 has been hit by a car at Fairfield and Howard Avenue. The white car hit two parked cars and then bounced off and it the firetruck. There were no reported injuries.

#Bridgeport, CT– Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch declared a Snow Emergency starting tomorrow, March 1, at 2:00PM.
“As always, we’re preparing for the worst, and hoping for the best. Our city has rallied together time and time again this winter to successfully beat back potentially harmful road conditions caused by the snow. We’re asking once again that we work together to ensure that after the storm, families across the city are able to get to where they need to go safely,” said Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch.
Since it as an odd day on the calendar, folks parking tomorrow at 2:00PM and thereafter must move their cars to the ‘odd-numbered’ side of the street.
“Our crews have been doing a great job plowing in the midst of a rough winter. But there is still snow built up on many streets due to the sheer volume of snow that’s hit our city streets. Mayor Finch is putting the Snow Emergency in place to ensure the new snowfalltomorrow afternoon is cleared, and our plow trucks can effectively navigate our streets around snow that still exists from previous storms.”
According to the National Weather Service, snowfall will begin tomorrow afternoon.
The Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center (581 Washington Ave., Bridgeport, Conn.) is activated at this time, and the followinglocations should be utilized for assisting in the Snow Emergency Declaration/Parking Ban:

1:01am–#Bridgeport CT–Just after 1am firefighters and police were called to the apartment above the mini mart at Arctic and Pembroke Street. Police arrived on scene first and reported seeing flames from the window. Firefighters quickly arrived and extinguished the fire containing it to the stove. They helped ventilate the apartment.
