First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced  that the United Illuminating Company (UI)  began work on a pilot program to trim or remove trees that began on Monday, March 30, 2015. The pilot program will take a several months to complete. UI will begin with only one crew at the corner of Congress and Burr Street and continue to work their way North on Burr Street to Aran Hill. Eventually UI will have another crew available in the Mill Plain area. Fairfield News: Trucker Dies In Crash

9:59am--#Fairfield CT--Fairfield Firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injury involving a large truck on I-95 NB near the Exit 23 off ramp.  Lt. Patrick Barry arrived on scene and reported the driver trapped and unresponsive inside the cab of a roll-off trailer truck.  The truck collided with the Kings Hwy overpass, causing damage to the bridge, prior to striking the guard rail and coming to rest on its drivers side.  Fairfield Engines 1, 2, 4, and 4, Ladders 1 and 2, Cars 1,2,3 and 5 responded to the scene.  Fairfield Police, State Police, State DEEP, State DOT, and CTR (Connecticut Tank Recovery) responded.  Firefighters used heavy rescue equipment to remove the roof of the tractor…

Fairfield News: Tree Worker Falls 40 Feet

Fairfield CT-- On Monday afternoon at 12:23 PM the Fairfield Emergency Communications Center received a call reporting that a tree worker had fallen from a tree at 188 Rock Major Road. Upon arrival, the Fire Department found the worker on the ground in the rear of the house. He had fallen over 40 feet. Under the Command of Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood, fire personnel immediately began treating the patient who was conscious and responsive. He did not appear to have life threatening injuries. The worker stated he had an issue with his climbing spikes that caused him to fall. Newly appointed Deputy Chief Kyran Dunn was on scene and assisted with incident coordination and control. American Medical Response arrived shortly after the fire department.
