Fairfield News: Serious Motorcycle Crash

UPDATE: Police say the motorcycle was driven by Walter Mebane IV, 26, of Stamford and the Ford Escape SUV driven by Marie Staley, 33, of Monroe. 8:11pm--#Fairfield CT--Police are investigating a serious crash between a motorcycle and SUV at Post and Beach Road.  The SUV was traveling west on the Post Road and was trying to make a left onto Beach Road.   The motorcycle was traveling east on the Post Road when the SUV turned in front of the motorcyclist.  The two women in the SUV were not injured.  The motorcyclist taken to Bridgeport Hospital in serious condition.  The driver is from Stamford but the motorcycle is registered in Fairfield police tell me.   Please take a quick moment and…

12:59pm--#Fairfield News: In an update of a story you saw first on DoingItLocal--A woman was attempting to park her vehicle inside the lot of Dunkin Donuts, located at 1910 Black rock Turnpike, and her foot hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal. Her vehicle entered Black Rock Turnpike and collided with a painting van that had been traveling north on Black Rock Turnpike. The momentum from this collision caused the van to tip over and slide on its left side across the two north bound lanes. The driver of the van got a ticket for no license. First Selectman Mike Tetreau announced  that the United Illuminating Company (UI)  began work on a pilot program to trim or remove trees that began on Monday, March 30, 2015. The pilot program will take a several months to complete. UI will begin with only one crew at the corner of Congress and Burr Street and continue to work their way North on Burr Street to Aran Hill. Eventually UI will have another crew available in the Mill Plain area. Interim Tree Warden Jeff Minder, who has been working with UI and the Town’s Forestry Committee on this Pilot Program, will be at the site Monday morning to introduce himself to everyone involved and to once again reiterate that he will…

Fairfield News: Trucker Dies In Crash

9:59am--#Fairfield CT--Fairfield Firefighters responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident with injury involving a large truck on I-95 NB near the Exit 23 off ramp.  Lt. Patrick Barry arrived on scene and reported the driver trapped and unresponsive inside the cab of a roll-off trailer truck.  The truck collided with the Kings Hwy overpass, causing damage to the bridge, prior to striking the guard rail and coming to rest on its drivers side.  Fairfield Engines 1, 2, 4, and 4, Ladders 1 and 2, Cars 1,2,3 and 5 responded to the scene.  Fairfield Police, State Police, State DEEP, State DOT, and CTR (Connecticut Tank Recovery) responded.  Firefighters used heavy rescue equipment to remove the roof of the tractor…
