Fairfield Police responded to a motor vehicle crash which occurred at the intersection of New England Avenue and Kings Hwy Cutoff, where a pedestrian was struck while crossing the road. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where they remain in critical but stable condition. Kings Hwy Cutoff remained closed during the investigation, but has since reopened. No official determination of fault has been made at this time. The crash is being investigated by our crash investigation unit.
Report of heavy black smoke and fire coming from the back of a home on Pease Ave in Southport. Firefighters were able to knock down the fire which extended through the attic, and there are no reported injuries at this time. On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the CT United Ride will travel through nine area towns, including Westport, to pay tribute to the victims and first responders of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States. The event is Connecticut’s largest annual 9/11 tribute as well as the largest motorcycle ride in the state. FAIRFIELD, CT – On Thursday, August 22, 2024, at approximately 12:39 PM, the Fairfield Police Department was notified by the Weston Police Department of a vehicle submerged in the Aspetuck River, directly behind Aspetuck Falls in Fairfield. The vehicle was believed to have been at this location for several days and was found to be unoccupied. Upon arrival, Fairfield Police personnel confirmed that the vehicle appeared to be unoccupied. A Fairfield Police diver further confirmed that no one was inside the vehicle and that no individuals were located in or around the water near the vehicle. Further investigation revealed evidence suggesting that the operator of the vehicle may have been inside when the vehicle entered the water. Information received during…
