Fairfield News: Uninhabitable Home

During the week of April 17th, Fairfield Police were made aware by a concerned citizen about a dog that was found roaming in the Steep Hill Road area of Fairfield. The dog appeared to have been covered in feces and urine, having a generally poor appearance.

Animal Control Officers began to investigate and determined that the dog came from a home on Steep Hill Road. After further investigation, it was determined that 25 dogs and 22 cats were living in poor conditions inside the home and needed to be removed.

Animal Control Officers along with Fairfield Police, assisted with removing all of the animals from the home. Three animals are being treated at a local animal hospital for various conditions and all others were seized. There were no deceased animals found in the home.

The Town of Fairfield Health Department assisted the police in this case and at this point found that the home is uninhabitable.

This is a very active and ongoing investigation. Any updates will be forwarded as they become available.

Fairfield Police Don’t Play- 3 Incidents In 3 Days Quickly Resolved

#Fairfield CT– On Thursday, April 27, 2023, at approximately 12:30am, the Fairfield County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call reporting that a female was found on Johnson

Drive and was claiming to have been robbed of $15,000 in cash.

The “victim” reported that she was driving her vehicle when two black males, operating an older model sedan-type vehicle, activated flashing blue and red emergency lights and pulled her over at the intersection of Johnson Drive

and Chambers Street. She was then approached by one of the males who identified himself as a police officer and was wearing a police badge around his neck. She then

claimed that she was ordered out of her vehicle, and handcuffed, and a search of her vehicle was conducted by the two “officers”. She then claimed that she was

unrestrained and told she was free to go. When she returned to her vehicle, she noticed that $15,000 in cash was missing, her iPhone was missing, and the key to her vehicle was missing.

Police conducted an area canvass for this suspect vehicle, an ambulance was summoned to the scene, and a lengthy investigation ensued, lasting well over 10 hours throughout the day Thursday.

What police discovered was that the “victim”, later identified as Wilhelmina Ray (55) of

Bridgeport had fabricated the entire story and none of the events occurred. Police found video surveillance of the entire area and discovered that the events in fact DID NOT occur. Ray actually placed the key to her vehicle in the bushes which was found by police.

Ray was placed under arrest at Fairfield Police Headquarters this evening and charged with Interfering with Police, Misuse of the 911 System, and Filing a False Police Report. She was released from custody after posting a $5000.00 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on May 10, 2023.

“This is an example of great investigative work conducted by the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau along with the repercussions someone will face for misusing the 911 system and emergency resources.”

Fairfield News: Carjacking Arrests

#Fairfield CT–On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, at approximately 1:04pm, the Fairfield

County Regional Dispatch Center received a 911 call from a male victim

reporting that he was just robbed at gunpoint in the TJ Maxx parking lot

located at 425 Tunxis Hill Cutoff in Fairfield. The victim was attempting a

sale of his vehicle in the lot after a prearranged meeting was discussed

using a common online platform.

The suspects, described as two black males, brandished firearms ordering

the victim to turn over his belongings and subsequently fled into the victim’s

vehicle, a black BMW.

Approximately one minute later, police received calls reporting that a black

BMW (later determined to be the stolen BMW) was just abandoned in the

middle of the roadway on Coolidge Street at Commerce Drive. The

occupants, two black males, were seen walking away from the vehicle and

were standing in front of Enterprise Rent-a-Car on Commerce Drive.

The two males entered the establishment and were later apprehended

without incident by Fairfield Police inside the rental car company.

Police later discovered the victim’s wallet and a firearm in the bathroom

trash can and an additional firearm hidden in the ceiling of the bathroom.

“Thankfully, no injuries were sustained to the victim in the course of this

robbery. We ask the public to use caution when dealing with internet sites

that involve the sale of property. The Fairfield Police Department

recommends conducting these transactions at the front of our

headquarters, which will give police the opportunity to immediately

intercede if anything criminal were to occur.”

The two suspects were charged with the below charges and held on a $250,000 bond each. They are expected to appear in court Thursday 04/27/2023 if unable to post bond.
