Milford News: I-95 Shooting and Stabbing

UPDATE: Witnesses at Yale New Haven Hospital said a man named Alberto was brought in to the emergency room (his name was mentioned many times) and was shot in the face. He allegedly stabbed the person who shot him in the face. 9:50pm--#cttraffic--#Milford CT--There was a shooting and stabbing that occurred on I-95 exit ramp at exit 41 (traffic cameras are turned off).  According to radio reports a person got off exit 41 and started shooting at a gray car on the highway.  The shooter is a white male in a white t-shirt.  Major crimes squad has been dispatched to the scene.  Traffic cameras from exit 40 to Long Wharf have been turned off so I don't know if the…

Police Pursuit Starting in Westport Ends in Trumbull

UPDATE: Rafael Vasquez, 25 of 181 Hampton Street, Hartford was arrested when the  stolen vehicle he was riding in was spotted driving erratically near exit 18 in Westport.  State Police attempted to pull the car over but lost sight of it near exit 16.  Police learned the vehicle was stolen out of Mamaroneck, New York which lead to speculation from reporters that it may have been one of the escaped convicts from Clinton Correctional Facility on June 6.  State Police fielded calls from People Magazine afterwards.   Westport Police picked up the pursuit on Route 1 heading towards Fairfield and Fairfield Police entered the chase when they entered their town.  The black Honda Civic then got on I-95 northbound at exit…

Malloy: “Undocumented” Immigrants Can Attend State Colleges

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that he has signed into law legislation that improves access to higher education opportunities for Connecticut residents by allowing the children of undocumented immigrants to attend state institutions of higher education and pay the in-state tuition rate if the student has attended a Connecticut high school for at least two years and has graduated from a Connecticut high school.  Under prior law, students were required to attend a Connecticut high school for at least four years.   “By making in-state tuition available to more students and expanding access to college, we will be bolstering Connecticut’s labor market by adding new, professional workers to our workforce – the type of residents that…

New Cellphone Tower Bill

Under a new law passed during the 2015 Legislative Session, municipalities and local residents will no longer have to foot the bill to hold a public information meeting on a proposed cell tower – the applicant will. Sen.
