(Bridgeport, CT – Aug. 1, 2013) – Burglaries remain down by 17 percent in the city this year but a recent uptick prompted police to launch preventative patrols in two areas. “Both violent and property crime continue to trend downward, and that’s great news,” said Police Chief Joseph L. Gaudett Jr. “But as we analyze our data on a daily basis, we’ve noticed increase in burglaries in two areas of the city and deployed resources to address it.” The police department has launched special “burglary patrols” in areas that have experienced recent increases. “The department has added patrol units dedicated exclusively to addressing the increase in burglaries, and the effort so far has been effective,” said Chief Gaudett. “The officers…

(Bridgeport, CT – July 31, 2013) – A 28-year-old man faces charges in connection with an incident in which he beat a man he knew over a dispute. Travis Williams, of Hewitt Street, faces charges of home invasion, second-degree assault, first-degree burglary and third-degree robbery. On Tuesday, Officers Anthony Caiazzo and Keith Hanson spoke to a concerned citizen who had information about an assault that happened over the weekend on Noble Avenue. Based on what they learned and a description provided, police went to Noble Avenue looking for the suspect, identified as Williams. They were told he had just walked to a nearby store. Police soon located him and took him into custody without incident. The attack occurred on July…
