BRIDGEPORT POLICE PURSUIT AND FIREARM RECOVERY

#BRIDGEPORT, CT –On Monday December 28, 2020 at 6:38pm while patrolling the PT Barnum Apartment Complex a Bridgeport Police Officer observed a vehicle that was driving suspiciously and proceeded to roll through a stop sign. While initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of Wordin Avenue and Fairfield Avenue, the vehicle proceeded to speed away from the officer eastbound on Fairfield Avenue where it proceeded to crash into traffic coming off the highway. The Officer upon approaching the scene of the incident saw the drive flee the vehicle and proceed eastbound on Fairfield Avenue towards Commerce Drive. Governor’s Staff Tests Positive For Covid

#HARTFORD, CT – Paul Mounds, chief of staff for the Office of the Governor, today announced that a member of Governor Ned Lamont’s staff has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, SARS CoV-2. The staff member was in the office as recently as Wednesday, December 23, but had only brief interaction with Governor Lamont from an appropriate social distance while wearing a mask, and the governor will not be self-quarantining as a result. #Bridgeport CT-- #ctfire-- Fires kept the Bridgeport Fire Department hopping. Start with a 2am fire in the 600 block of Fairfield Avenue with fire on the second floor. One occupant was transported to the hospital. Fire Units responded to a report of a structure fire located at 1105 North Ave at 9:15AM. First unit reported fire visible on the second floor. All occupants were out on arrival. The house next door 1113 was also damaged. The fire is currently under investigation with the Fire Marshal’s Division. No injuries occurred at this incident. The Red Cross will be providing lodging for 6 adults and 3 children. A kitchen fire was reported in the 800 block of Queen Street around 12:30pm and a dumpster…

Tax Relief Program for Westport Taxpayers Impacted by COVID-19

Westport, CT – First Selectman Jim Marpe announced today that the Town of Westport will offer the tax relief deferment program for eligible taxpayers for the January installment period.  The authority to offer such program is granted by Governor Lamont’s Executive Order 9R, issued on December 16, 2020, which suspends and modifies tax deadlines and collection efforts for tax bills that become due and payable on January 1, 2021. All municipalities in the State of Connecticut must offer a tax relief program. In April, the Board of Finance recommended and the Representative Town Meeting (RTM) approved the administration’s proposed tax relief deferment program. 2020-12-21@11:30pm--#Stratford CT-- #ctfire-- At approx. 11:18 PM, The Stratford Fire Dept. was dispatched to 161 Cheshire St. for a reported structure fire. Under the command of Assistant Chief Alesevich, Engine 1, 2, 3, 4, Tac5 and Truck 1 responded with a total of 22 firefighters and 2 Safety Officers. On arrival, Engine 2 observed heavy fire coming from two of the second floor bedroom windows of the large colonial style home. The fire extended up and into the attic. The interior suffered heavy fire and smoke damage throughout. The fire was under control in 30 minutes. Bridgeport and Milford Fire Depts. provided station coverage during the incident.
