Compo Beach to Close when Parking Lots Reach 50%

Westport, CT – Due to the nice weather and warmer than normal temperatures this weekend, increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic has been occurring at Westport beaches. Police UPDATE: On November 7, 2020 at approximately 3:41 pm, the Bridgeport Emergency Operations Center received a telephone call regarding a serious crash in front of 2926 Fairfield Avenue (Tautog Tavern), Bridgeport, CT (Vehicle vs Pedestrian). Bridgeport Police , Fire and AMR were dispatched to the scene.A red 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling westbound in the left lane of travel near the 2900 block Fairfield Avenue. Fairfield News: Firefighters Rescue Tree Worker Pinned 60 Feet Up

2020-1107@2:04pm-#Fairfield CT- A tree worker found himself pinned in a tree about sixty feet up in the air on Beacon View Terrace. A branch came down pinning his thigh against another tree. Fairfield Fire called in additional personnel from Fairfield and mutual aid from Bridgeport to assist in the rescue. It took over an hour to free the man. Westport News: Bridgeport Man Held On Shoplifting

#Westport CT--On Sunday September 13, 2020 at approximately 6:06am, officers responded to CVSPharmacy, 397 Post Road East, on a theft complaint. Staff reported that a male and female hadentered the store and begun filling reusable shopping bags with the merchandise. The two did notpay for any of this merchandise and began to walk toward the store’s exit. When questionedby a staff member prior to exiting, the male clenched his fist stating that he had a syringe whichhe would stab staff with. The two then fled in a waiting vehicle. It was later determined thatthe pair had stolen approximately $900.00 in merchandise. Norwalk News: Roommate Stabbing

Responding officers detained the suspect, Walter Brooks-Rivera,while he was running from the scene. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds and wasbrought to the hospital and is still being treated. Coronavirus Relief Fund

(HARTFORD, CT) – Governor Ned Lamont today announced that he has approved the allocation of $3.4 million in grants from the state’s Coronavirus Relief Fund, which uses federal CARES Act money, to finance programs in several towns across Connecticut that will be used for homeless shelter improvements, homeless prevention services, and financial assistance for low-income residents at-risk of becoming homeless.
