Students Without Legal Status Tuition Passes House

HARTFORD, CT – Governor Dannel P. Malloy and Lt. Governor Nancy Wyman applauded the state House of Representatives for the passage today of S.B. 4, An Act Assisting Students Without Legal Immigration Status With The Cost Of College, in a bipartisan manner. The legislation passed the Senate with bipartisan support last week. Stratford News: Nailed!

Bridgeport News: Fire On The East End

5:05pm--#Bridgeport CT-  Heavy black smoke was seen over the East End from an attic fire at 449 Newfield Avenue.  Firefighters were challenged to get in the attic as there was no front stairway to the attic.  The firefighters had to go up the stairs from one apartment through a hallway and then up to the attic.  Everyone made it out safely, one person suffered smoke inhalation.  Red Cross is on the way to help those who live there.

Bridgeport News: Woman Shot

UPDATE: Police spokesperson Av Harris confirmed it was a shooting, a female (transgender) was shot in the face and arm along with a broken jaw.  Police believe the victim was targeted and known to her.  Animal Control was called to take care of the victim's dog.   2:02pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A woman was stabbed at 284/286 Stillman Street.  There is very little info on this breaking news story.  Detectives just arrived to investigate.

Monroe News: Firetruck Retired

#Monroe CT-- Tonight the Stepney Volunteer Fire Department said goodbye to an old friend, a 1995 Gowans--Knight rescue firetruck that has served Monroe for the last 23 years.  The truck will find new action in a volunteer fire department in Pennsylvania.  But Stepney volunteers are saying hello to the new Rescue  Engine Squad 103.
