Bridgeport News: Fatal Crash After State Police Pursuit

UPDATE from Connecticut State Police: The suspect/operator, Joseph Guzman-Rivera (dob 11/06/1995) of 537 Colorado Ave., Bridgeport, CT, was taken into custody after being located in the basement of a residence on Lewis St. in Bridgeport (he did not know the residents of the home). Upon being apprehended by Connecticut State Troopers, Connecticut State Police K9 Nero and Bridgeport Police Officers, Guzman-Rivera physically assaulted K9 Nero.  Guzman-Rivera was also found in possession of heroin, crack cocaine and powder cocaine. Guzman-Rivera was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the crash.  Upon release from the hospital Guzman-Rivera was transported to Troop G-Bridgeport where he was charged with Possession of Narcotics (3 counts), Possession of Narcotics With Intent to…

Bridgeport News: Fatal Crash After State Police Pursuit

I'm working on the details of a fatality at Iranistan and Railroad Avenue this afternoon after a pursuit.  The driver fleeing police hit two pedestrians and car resulting in at least one fatality. From the state police: Approximately 12:56 p.m. Troop G conducted a motor vehicle stop on I-95. Operator stopped, however as trooper approached the operator then fled the scene and became involved in a crash resulting in life-threatening injury.  The operator fled on foot after the crash, but has been taken into custody.

Fairfield News: Cops Nab Man Who Hit Biker And Fled

#Fairfield CT--On August 8 th , 2017 at approximately noon time,  we were first to report to you that the Fairfield Police Department’s traffic unit responded to Black Rock Tnpk near the Route 15 Southbound entrance ramp after multiple 911 calls were received reporting a bicyclist struck by a vehicle. An initial investigation revealed that the vehicle fled the scene southbound on the Merrit Parkway. The vehicle was described as a gray vehicle with front end damage. Moments later, Officers with the Westport Police Department stopped a vehicle northbound on the Merritt Parkway near Exit 42. Fairfield News: No State Budget Cuts Library Hours

First Selectman Mike Tetreau and Interim Town Librarian Nancy Coriaty announced today that beginning Monday, August 14, 2017 the Fairfield Public Library - the Main Library and the Fairfield Woods Branch Library - will reduce hours of operation because of reduced staff and lack of a state budget. In response to the Town’s need to reduce expenses because of the State’s fiscal crisis and failure to pass a budget, the Fairfield Public Library Board of Library Trustees recently made the difficult decision to reduce hours. The Fairfield Public Library is just one of many public libraries across the state reducing hours in response to anticipated budget constraints. Bridgeport News: Murder Suspect Arrested

#Bridgeport, CT – Bridgeport Police are announcing that early this morning, Latrel Baker (DOB: 10/15/96 of 575 Burnsford Ave) was arrested and charged with Manslaughter in the First Degree in connection with the April 30th death of Victor Diaz. He is the being held on a $150,000 bond and is the second person charged in this case.  This relates to an incident on April 27, 2017 when Bridgeport Police responded to Saint Vincent's Hospital on a report of an assault. According to witnesses, Victor Diaz (DOB: 9/12/1990) was assaulted by several friends at Dewhirst Street and Baker Street, during which he suffered an asthma attack.  Diaz was admitted to the hospital and three days later, on April 30th, 2017, he died.
