Westport News: Traffic Stop Nets Drugs and Handgun
On 10/24/2016 at approximately 10:00pm, Officer David Scinto was on routine patrol on Post Road East in the area of Maple Avenue. Officer Scinto observed a white Nissan sedan traveling eastbound on the Post Road. The vehicle did not have a front license plate and the rear license plate light was not functioning. The vehicle was stopped and the operator was identified as Donald Flamer. Officer Scinto deployed Police Service Dog “Atlas” to the exterior of the vehicle. Atlas is a certified narcotics detection K9 on both state and national levels. Atlas indicated to Officer Scinto the presence of a narcotic odor, so he was deployed to the interior of the vehicle. Atlas continued to indicate on several areas of…
