Ansonia Police UPDATE: On April 14, 2022 at about 10:30 P.M., the Ansonia Police Department received multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired in the area of Avon Street and Day Street and a shooting victim at Griffin Hospital. Officers located the scene of the shooting on Avon Street and recovered evidence related to the shooting. A 43 year-old Ansonia resident, shot multiple times, drove himself to the hospital, the male was stabilized and transferred to another hospital where he is in serious but stable condition. The White Hills Civic Club was chartered May 20, 1946 and a stated aim of the organization was to promote community welfare as fifty families lived in White Hills at that time. One of the first objectives was to form a volunteer fire company and purchase a fire truck. Within less than a year, the fire company was founded and the first fire truck was purchased in 1948 costing $7K. Members actually signed personal notes to assure payment of the new vehicle and they held a two-day country fair to help in the payment of the new fire truck. #Ansonia CT-- #Milford CT--On January 27, 2022 Jermaine Smalls was arrested by warrant during a court appearance at Milford Superior Court for his involvement in the December 15, 2021 shooting on Fourth Street. Smalls was charged with Criminal Attempt at Murder, Assault First Degree and Reckless Endangerment First Degree. He was arraigned, held a $1,000,000.00 bond and his next court date is March 31, 2022. UPDATE: The deceased in the shooting incident at the Marriott Residence Inn in Shelton has been identified as 23 year old Ivan Whyte of Bridgeport. Officers and detectives have been working around the clock on this investigation. #Shelton CT--On 6-12-21 at approximately 11:33pm, Shelton Police and EMS responded to 1001Bridgeport Ave, the Marriott Residence Inn, on a report that a male was shot and was inthe parking lot. On October 14, 2020 at 10:35 P.M., the Ansonia Police Department received a complaint of an armed robbery at the Wakelee Mart, 192 Wakelee Avenue. Two males, both armed with handguns entered the store and demanded the employee turn over all the money in the register. Several hundred dollars were taken during the robbery. During the course of the robbery, one of the suspects struck the employee in the head. The employee suffered a minor injury and declined medical attention. The suspects are described as black males both over six feet tall, one heavy set and the other had a slender build.
