Westport Man Arrested On Fake Perscriptions

#Westport CT–On 12/29/15, Mark Simonetti turned himself in on an active warrant for his arrest stemming from an investigation performed in November, 2015. The accused reportedly used fake written prescriptions he created himself to obtain controlled Mark Simonettinarcotics at a Walgreens in Bridgeport CT 33 times from August 2014 to October 2015. The accused mimicked the prescription pad from Dr Singer’s office in Westport. He was released on a $50,000 court issued bond and given a court date of 01/07/2016 in Norwalk.

Indie Bands Coming To Westport

#Westport CT–Toquet Hall Teen Center is excited to welcome Nashville based singer/guitarist, firekid, on Friday, January 15 with Pizza Dust and The Foresters. Dillon Hodges, aka firekid, has been earning critical acclaim for his unique blend of indie-rock,

bluegrass, and electronic music. A style he dubs, “metropolitan mountain music”, the young Hodges has been touring in support of his self-titled debut LP, “firekid”, released this past September by Atlantic Records. His hit single, “Magic  Mountain” can be heard in regular rotation on Sirius XM Alt Nation, even landing on their Alt18 list.

Supporting firekid on the show will be local bands, Pizza Dust and The Foresters. The rock/alternative Pizza Dust is composed of talented SHS seniors, Alejandro Hervella, Jimmy Kavetas, Halley Jonas, Tristan Zauls, and Sean Porio. The Foresters are an indie-rock trio of brothers who have been making waves at venues and festivals across the northeast. Doors open at 7 pm and the show will run from 7 pm-9:30pm. Westport News: Burglary, Pursuit, Manhunt, Capture!

4:50pm–#Westport CT–The Westport Police Department received a call from a resident reporting that they had returned home to find an unknown intruder inside their residence. Once confronted, the suspect left the residence without incident. A description of the suspect was obtained and given out to responding units. Officer Morrison observed a person fitting the description operating a black pick-up truck and leaving the immediate area. He attempted to pull the vehicle over, but the suspect vehicle fled south on the Sherwood Island Connector at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle attempted to ram pursuing officers prior to merging onto I-95 North. The Connecticut State Police was made aware of the pursuit as Westport Officers continued behind the suspect northbound on I-95. Westport Officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle in traffic and broke off their pursuit.

The vehicle was observed by Connecticut State Police units who continued the pursuit N/B on I-95. Assisted by Bridgeport, and Stratford Police departments, the suspect was apprehended by a Stratford Officer after he bailed from his vehicle in the area of Cambridge Street in Stratford. Westport Officers responded to the scene, took custody of the suspect, and transported him back to Westport for processing.

Charges: Burglary 2nd degree (C.G.S 53a-102) Possession of Burglar’s Tools (C.G.S 53a-106) Reckless Endangerment (C.G.S. 53a-63) Criminal Attempt at Assault 2nd degree (C.G.S. 53a-49/53a-60)

Engaging Police in Pursuit (C.G.S. 14-223(b)) Reckless Driving (C.G.S. 14-222)

Nichols is being held on a bond of $50,000.00. He has a court date set for 01/11/2016

Westport News: Bad Check Arrest

On 11/09/15, Westport Police investigated a report of a fraudulent check deposit at Citibank, 399 Post Road West. Artis deposited a check for $6,500.00 from an account listed to him. Artis then withdrew $6,000.00 from the account. Two days later the check was returned due to insufficient funds and Artis never made the account whole.

On 12/23/15, Artis surrendered himself on an active warrant for his arrest. He posted a $7,500.00 bond and has a court date in Norwalk on 01/05/16.

Westport News: Domestic Disturbance Arrests

#Westport CT–At approximately 4:32am on December 12th, 2015, Westport Officers responded to a reported physical domestic disturbance at a local residence. The female party threw a drink in the face of the male, then the male put the female in a headlock. Arrested was Marie Jane Fink (age 30) of Westport Connecticut, and Joshua Warren (age 40) also of Westport Connecticut. Both were charged with Disorderly Conduct, 53a-182(a)(1)

Westport News: Toy Drive starts this weekend

Westport Police announce Whole Foods Market Westport has joined their holiday toy drive effort and will be a donation drop off point The Westport Police Department is thrilled to announce the newly developed partnership with Whole Foods Market Westport during this year’s holiday toy drive!

Whole Foods Marketing Team Leader, Jessica Vitelli contacted the police department hoping that Whole Foods would be able to help in some way with the toy drive so that they can be a part of giving back to the community. Whole Foods Market Westport located at 399 Post Road West, will be accepting donations of new, unopened, and unwrapped toys during store hours (they are open daily from 8:00AM to 10:00PM) beginning on Wednesday, December 2nd through Sunday, December 13th at 5:00PM.

Along with your toy donation, you will be entered to win a Holiday Roast or Ham of your choice, courtesy of Whole Foods! Additionally, for the second year in a row, Renato’s Jewelers, 1765 Post Road East, will also be accepting donations during their store hours (M-F 8AM-3PM, Sat 9AM-2PM, closed Sundays) now through Saturday, Dec 12th at 1PM.
