Westport News: Red Bull Theft

#Westport CT--December 4th, 2015 Westport Officers responded to the Shelton Police Department and took custody of Christopher Freer (age 36), for an outstanding larceny arrest warrant held by this Department. The arrest warrant stems from a larceny complaint back on August 28th of this year where the suspect had ran out of the Stop and Shop store with 12 four packs of Red Bull. The suspect, who was being followed by a store employee, then dumped the items in the parking lot before entering a waiting car. The store employee then recovered the stolen merchandise, some of which was damaged from being dropped by the suspect. Using the store video footage of the incident, and with the assistance from the Shelton Police Department, Freer was identified as the suspect.…

Staples Wrestling Coach Arrested For Drugs

On Saturday December 5th, 2015 at approximately 1:15 AM a Westport Officer on patrol on Post Road East initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing the vehicle cross the double yellow lines. A computer check for the operator revealed that there was an outstanding arrest warrant for Failure to Appear in Court. During the arrest, an officer located a small clear plastic bag of cocaine in a cigarette pack in the vehicle. The suspect, David Bernstein (age 28) was additionally charged with illegal possession of a narcotic. Arrested was David Bernstein (age 28) of Fairfield Connecticut Bernstein was charged with Failure to Appear 2nd C.G.S 53a-172 Possession of Narcotics C.G.S 21a-279(a) Bernstein posted $2500 bond for the Failure to Appear arrest and $1000 for the Narcotic Charge. Westport Burglary Arrest Made

#Westport CT---On Tuesday November 24th, 2015 Westport Police Detectives served two arrest warrants for Devon Groomes (age 34) of New Haven in Norwalk Court where he was being held on other charges. The two notable arrest stems from lengthy investigations into overnight residential and car burglaries by the Detective Bureau in July 2015. On July 21st 2015 the Westport Police Department responded to a residential burglary on Woodside Avenue. The victim had reported that his garage was entered and a bicycle was stolen. The bicycle had been recovered on a property of Patrick Lane on July 19th, 2015 and was turned over to the Police Department. Westport News: Pool Contractor Arrest

Warrant Arrest: On Wednesday November 18th, 2015 the accused turned himself into the Westport Police Department after learning that there was a warrant for his arrest. The arrest stems from a larceny complaint received on September 18th, 2015. The complainant alleges that he had hired CT Windows and Sunrooms LLC back in December 2014 to reconstruct his pool roof and paid $5000 upfront as part of the contract agreement. From December 2014 to September 2015 no work was completed or attempted by the contractor. The Westport Police Department Local Union #2080 and Police Benevolent Association will be  hosting their annual Holiday Toy Drive, which provides toys for underprivileged children throughout Fairfield County and beyond.  The program has been extremely successful in the past,  allowing for thousands of toys to be distributed to children who otherwise would have none. Westport News: Returns for Cash…..

On Monday November 9th, 2015 Rachel Taylor (age 18) turned herself into the Westport Police Department after learning that there was a warrant for her arrest.  On October 23rd, 2015 the Westport Police Department received a complaint of a larceny from a Post Road store. The store manager reported that one of the store employees had completed seven returns which had a positive balance and that the inventory was missing. An audit of the employee’s transactions was completed confirming the larceny of reported returns for cash.  Arrested was Rachel Taylor (age 18) of Westport Connecticut Taylor was charged with Larceny 6th C.G.S 53a-125b Taylor was unable to post $250 bond and was issued a court date of November 20th at Norwalk Court.   This report is made possible…

Westport Veterans Day Services Announced

#Westport CT--William Vornkahl, President of the Westport Veterans Council announced that the Town of Westport will hold Veterans Day services on Wednesday, November 11 in the Town Hall auditorium. The public is invited. Westport’s New Animal Control Officer

The Westport Police Department is pleased to announce that Gina Gambino will assume the position as the town’s Animal Control Officer. She is taking over the role vacated by Animal Control Officer Peter D’Amico who served successfully in that position from 1989 until his retirement on November 1st of this year. Gina brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field. She has worked in the animal control departments of Easton, Fairfield, and most recently Bridgeport over the course of the last eight years. In Bridgeport she was the Chief Animal Control Officer responsible for a large municipal shelter. Along with her experience, Gina is also a graduate of the University of Connecticut (2006) with an Associate’s Degree in the study of Animal Science. She holds…
