The annual PAL fireworks display is set for Monday, July 2, 2018, with a rain date of Tuesday, July 3, 2018. This is a well-attended event that features heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic affecting all roads south of Greens Farms Road between South Compo Road and Hillspoint Road. It is recommended that spectators plan to arrive early as traffic delays are inevitable. The beach should reopen to ticket holders by 5:00 PM, however, this determination will be made by Westport Parks and Recreation staff. Fairfield News: Reminder Not To Leave Kids/Pets In Hot Cars

#Fairfield CT--State Representative Brenda Kupchick (R-132) united with Fairfield Police Chief Gary MacNamara at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon to remind residents about Fairfield’s ongoing “Heat Kills: If you Love ‘em Don’t Leave ‘em” initiative. First started in 2015, the campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers of leaving children & pets in hot cars. Rep. Kupchick also shared the legislature’s passage of a transportation bill that extends “Good Samaritan” law protections to people who break into hot cars to save animals. Norwalk News: Lighting Strikes House Causing Fire

4:51 Norwalk Fire responded to a house fire at 32 Thistle Road.   The fire started from a lightning strike.  The fire first started in the attic then caught the kitchen below. There was heavy fire damage to the first floor and attic, and smoke damage to the rest of the home.  All occupants managed to get out safely along with two cats.  One firefighter was injured when part of the ceiling fell. He suffered a minor laceration to the face and a minor back injury.   The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.
