Westport Fire Department UPDATE: On February 16 th 2018 the Westport Fire Department was alerted to a building fire on Remlin Ct. The Westport Fire Department responded with four engines, one truck, and the shift commander. Mutual aid was also dispatched on receipt of the call. The first fire department unit arrived and reported a fully involved structure. The main fire building was a large garage with a single apartment located above it. Incident command was established and the fire department began extinguishment. The building was verified to be unoccupied at the time of the fire and the surrounding structures were evacuated. #WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) released the following statement on Thursday after voting for bipartisan legislation that protects Dreamers and provides them a path to citizenship. The McCain-Coons legislation failed by a vote of 52 to 47. The bipartisan Schumer legislation failed by a vote of 54 to 45. “Today the president blew up the only compromise on immigration that had a chance to pass. It’s unfortunate, but not surprising. 2:49pm--#Stratford CT-- Just before 3pm, police say Mark Febres age 22 of Bridgeport was arrested following a domestic incident at 1417 West Broad Street. He went into the home of his ex-girlfriend and attacked the woman stabbing her several times. He fled on foot down Knowlton Street and was captured by police a short time later on Vernon Street. He was charged with Criminal Attempt at Murder, Assault in the First Degree, three counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor, Home Invasion and Violation of a Protective Order. Febres was held on a $1,500,000 dollar bond and is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Court on February 16th.
10:39pm--#Bridgeport CT--It was bumper cars in Black Rock on Fairfield Avenue. The action started when a car hit the infamous Smitty (Smitty's Bar) had parked at the corner of Brewster Avenue. The car snapped the axel on the car Smitty had parked, the blow snapped his back axle. The car continued crashing into 4 additional parked cars. There were no reported injuries. Fairfield Avenue southbound is closed while they sort this out and tow the cars.

2:49pm--#Stratford CT-- Stratford Police are investigating a stabbing of a woman during a domestic argument at 1419 West Broad Street. Stratford Police Captain Frank Eannotti said the suspect fled down Knowlton Street on foot but was quickly apprehended.
5:05pm--#Bridgeport CT-- There is a fire in the 200 block that started in the basement and extended to the first floor. Initial reports said there was a worker in the basement. Firefighters just said on the radio they search all the floors and no one was located and they believe everyone made it out safely.
