2:15PMish-- Around 2:15pm the mail carrier informed firefighters that baby raccoons were inside the fire station bay at Fairfield Fire Station 2 on Jennings Road. One hid behind a soda and vending machine, the other in a corner just outside the bay doors. Animal control came to help trap raccoons. Animal Control Officer Miller said the mother raccoon is nocturnal and asleep and probably doesn't know the babies are missing. He said they will release them in the area later tonight and the mother will locate them.
3:18pm--#Stratford CT-- Stratford Police Chief McNeil confirmed that one person was shot in the foot at Woodend and Sedgewick Avenue. The two were on mopeds. Police said one was person was in custody and they were still searching for a second person. At 5pm it sounded like on radio transmissions that the second person was taken into custody but that has not been confirmed.

The victim in last night's homicide has been identified as Jason Nieves (DOB: 6/25/88) of 455 Trumbull Ave. The cause of death was determined to be from a gunshot. This is still an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to please notify 203-576-TIPS. Video UPDATE: As I was first to report last night, an adult male was found inside an SUV fire on Houston Avenue in Bridgeport's north end. The red SUV was reported stolen out of Meriden. The man was burned on his upper body and face, he has not been identified at this time. Police are handling it as a homicide. #Stratford CT--On 06-07- 2017 at approximately six minutes after midnight Tavares Harris age 26 of Florida crashed his SUV into the protective railing on the Devon Bridge. Harris then exited his vehicle and jumped from the bridge. Officers and Firefighters from several towns initiated a search for Harris. The search included marine units, aviation units as well as K-9 civilian volunteers and police and fire dive team. The Housatonic River was searched throughout the day and night but Harris could not be located. The investigation continues. This press release is made possible by:
6:16pm--#Bridgeport CT-- A BMW reportedly lunged forward without warning hitting the front porch of a home in the 700 block of Queen Street. It did not appear to cause much damage but the porch did push into the basement causing damage to the foundation. The homeowner did tell me she was happy she wasn't tonight's car fire!
