FAIRFIELD, Connecticut (May 31, 2016) – As spring turns into summer, mosquitos will become more prevalent and with this comes an increasing risk of mosquito-borne diseases. During the month of June, members from the Fairfield Easton Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Fairfield’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Health Department staff will be going door to door in Fairfield raising awareness on how to prevent mosquito-borne diseases, like Zika. MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND ENFORCEMENT

MIDDLETOWN, CT. (May 31, 2016): Troopers were busy patrolling the highways and roads in Connecticut over this 2016 Memorial Day weekend. During this enforcement operation troopers utilized both traditional and non-traditional patrol cars. The enforcement project started at 12:01 a.m. on 5/26/16 and ran through 11:59 p.m. on 5/30/16. Troopers targeted aggressive/reckless drivers, distracted drivers, speeders, seatbelt violations and intoxicated driver to reduce traffic crashes. Sobriety checkpoints and targeted DUI patrols were also in place over the entire weekend. The Norwalk Department of Police Service Detective Bureau is investigating a shots fired incident that occurred on Woodlawn Avenue at 12:43 a.m. today. The initial investigation revealed a residence on Woodlawn Avenue had been struck by gunfire. No one was injured during the incident.
