#Bridgeport Connecticut--State Senators Ed Gomes and Marilyn Moore (D-Bridgeport) welcomed a significant state investment of funds to rehabilitate affordable housing units in Bridgeport. The State Bond Commission approved $1.98 million in state funding for the project during a meeting February 1, 2017. In total the project will cost an estimated $3.39 million. Specifically, the new bonding will provide a grant-in- aid to the Bridgeport Neighborhood Trust, Inc., to assist with the rehabilitation of 25 total units at the Bishop Place and Seaview Apartments. “I’m very supportive of any development that helps Bridgeport grow. 5:11pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- Fire that started in a living room at 1165 Central Avenue may have spread through the walls and caused a smoke condition on the third floor. All occupants had safely made it out of the two family home. Radio reports said one hose line was in operation and a second hose was on it's way. Within minutes the evacuation tones sounded and all the firefighters were called to evacuate the home. Shortly flames were shooting through the roof and an exterior attack was used by firefighters and the roof had collapsed. The fire did not extend to any nearby homes. 12:29am--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- An off duty New York Police Officer witnessed a crash on Madison Avenue at Garfield Avenue. The black SUV hit a parked car and flipped over blocking Madison Avenue. The occupants in the SUV fled on foot, he gave chase but lost them.
UPDATE: Fairfield Police Press Release: On 02/05/2017 at 10:33pm Fairfield Police responded to a motor vehicle crash into a house on Fairfield Beach Rd. Preliminary investigation revealed that Peter L. Jones of Summit, N.J. was operating his 2011 Ford F-150 pick-up truck eastbound on Fairfield Beach Road when he crossed over the center line and went off the left side of the roadway striking a parked vehicle in the driveway of 1054 Fairfield Beach Road. The truck continued through a front yard, and came to rest after striking the front façade of 1024 Fairfield Beach Road. Peter L.
