10:25pm--#cttraffic--#Milford Connecticut-- Tonight's car fire is on I-95 southbound at the rest area at exit 41. In the picture it is directly behind the bright light which is either a light or the camera is overexposed or both. Firefighters report on scanner transmissions that it is fully engulfed involving the fuel so foam has been ordered.
Bridgeport News: Carjacking
5:38pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- A 2003 red Ford Escape was taken in a carjacking on Palisades Avenue by two Hipanic males that appear to be in the 40's. One was wearing a red shirt and the other a white shirt. One fled on foot the other took the car. The victim thinks one of them had a gun but wasn't certain according to radio reports. Westport News: Boom! Power Out! Road Closed
At 12:56 PM today, Westport Firefighters responded to a reported explosion and smoke in the area of Elaine Rd. and Compo Rd. South. Arriving units found an Eversource power line (that ran along the Metro North right of way near the tracks) down and arcing. The energized line had caused the brush and some railroad ties along the side of the track to catch on fire. Firefighters called for train traffic on Track 3 to be stopped and called for a slowdown on Tracks 1, 2 and 4 for the duration of the incident. Metro North and Eversource personnel responded to the incident to assist Westport Police and Fire units on the scene. Middletown, CT. (June 29, 2016): As the July 4 th holiday weekend quickly approaches, the Connecticut State Police reminds Connecticut residents that fireworks are illegal in the State of Connecticut. Over the past few weeks the public has been overwhelmed with advertisements, signs, and sales pitches of so-called “fireworks.” July 4 th always raises questions about what is legal as far as fireworks are concerned. To avoid confusion, and to caution our citizens, Connecticut Law (29-357) says: Only sparklers and fountains, which are non-explosive and non-aerial, are legal in Connecticut.
