FOUR-YEAR-OLD GIRL STRUCK BY BRIDGEPORT POLICE CAR

A four-year-old girl was taken to Bridgeport Hospital in critical condition with serious injuries on Wednesday night after she was struck on Hanover Street by a Bridgeport Police car responding to a call. The crash occurred at approximately 9:36 p.m. The officer driving the car was on the way to a report of a mob attacking a female at nearby Went Field Park on the West Side. By the time other officers arrived at the park, the crowd had dispersed. The alleged victim of the reported attack was not located. The four-year-old victim of the crash was transported by ambulance to the hospital. She was most recently listed in critical, but stable, condition. She lives with her family on Hanover…

BRIDGEPORT POLICE ARREST BARRICADED SUSPECT

An early morning standoff on Grand Street in The Hollow section of the city ended with a barricaded suspect who exchanged gunfire with the Bridgeport Police was taken into custody. Officers initially responded to Grand Street at approximately 12:10 a.m. on Wednesday for a street fight. The first officer to arrive encountered the suspect, later identified as Roberto Martins, 53, of Bridgeport, who eventually fled into the side basement door of a house in the 600 block Grand Street. Martins then fired a gun four times at officers through the barricaded door. One of the officers returned fired. Nobody was struck by a bullet.
