Fairfield–Firefighters responded to three consecutive calls on Fairfield Beach Road Friday morning  of reports of water running out the front doors and under the house.   A building inspector was also on scene.  The officials determined that the houses were not heated and the pipes froze.  Temperatures have risen and the pipes burst causing the flooding.   Two of the houses were rented to college students who are on vacation and they probably turned the heat down.   The other house was damaged by Hurricane Irene and was being repaired by a contractor.  Again the heat was suspected to have been turned down in the home and the pipes burst.

CORBETT, OR (KPTV) -Multnomah County Sheriff’s Deputies are searching for a man they said stole tools, two safes and valuable coins from a shed at a Corbett home belonging to his own father.  Investigators told FOX 12 that the suspects dumped the collection into a coin counting machine in Gresham and received about $450 in return.  Read full story…..

DoingItLocal.com has learned from multiple sources that a student at Fairfield’s Notre Dame High School has been suspended after  releasing a YouTube video loaded with “F” bombs; He also  talks about the school, teachers and principal in a negative/derogatory manner.   In the video he also said he would bomb the school. The video has since been removed from YouTube.   The student is a senior, and a popular athlete.  Because he is a minor we cannot release his name.  A

Business owners in Fairfield and surrounding areas are being warned by Fairfield Police to double check money received particularly $100 bills.   Restaurant Archie Moore’s , candy store Sweet Rexie’s and most recently Fairfield University Book Store have fallen victim to receiving counterfeit $100 bills.   In all instances the bogus bills were received in exchange of a smaller purchase, usually around $10.   At this point it appears to be different people passing the funny money.   Police are warning merchants  double check large bills either by close inspection  looking for watermarks on the bill or with a counterfeit detector pen.

(Hartford, CT) – Today, the Connecticut Congressional Delegation announced over $51 million dollars in disaster relief funds for the Connecticut Department of Transportation in the wake of both Hurricane Irene and the October snowstorm. Two separate grants were awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Emergency Relief Program and will go toward repair and reconstruction of roads that were damaged as a result of the storms.

“These resources will go a long way to restore and rebuild Connecticut after two devastating storms in a row,” said the delegation. “The funding will provide the resources needed to repair our damaged roads, highways, and infrastructure so Connecticut residents can travel safely.”

Eastman Kodak Co. is preparing to seek bankruptcy protection in the coming weeks, people familiar with the matter said, a move that would cap a stunning comedown for a company that once ranked among America’s corporate titans.

The 131-year-old company is still making last-ditch efforts to sell off some of its patent portfolio and could avoid Chapter 11 if it succeeds, one of the people said. But the company has started making preparations for a filing in case those efforts fail, including talking to banks about some $1 billion in financing to keep it afloat during bankruptcy proceedings, the people said.

With two trials of his family’s killers now behind him, Dr. William Petit Jr., the lone survivor of the 2007 deadly Cheshire home invasion, plans to marry again.

In an email Wednesday, Petit, 55, said no date has been set for his marriage to Christine Paluf. Petit’s mother, Barbara Petit, said the couple became engaged after Christmas.
