Police UPDATE: On October 14, 2020 at approximately 4:55 pm Bridgeport Patrol Officers, Bridgeport Firefighters and American Medical Response (AMR) responded to the scene of a fatal crash at the intersection of Park Avenue and Thorme Street. This was a two car motor vehicle crash involving a dark blue 2008 Acura TI bearing CT registration AU72393 operated by Rolando Solano DOB 09/12/2001 of Bridgeport CT and a white 2015 Lexus ES 350 bearing CT registration AERO-5 operated by Luis Kugell DOB 05/09/1939 of Prospect CT. #Stratford CT-- #cttraffic-- Traffic remains backed up on I-95 in Stratford in both directions after this morning's crash and truck fire. Only one lane is getting by northbound and southbound is backed up mainly from rubbernecking. #Stratford CT--At approx. 6.37 am, The Stratford Fire Dept. was dispatched onto I95 North at exit 32,for a motor vehicle accident involving two tractor-trailers with one tractor on fire.Engines 1, 2, 3, Tac5, Truck 1, Hazmat and Car 3 responded to the Incident. Uponarrival, one tractor-trailer was in the breakdown lane with a ruptured saddle tank leakingdiesel fuel, approx. 75yards away the second tractor-trailer transporting beer had its cabfully involved in fire.Stratford fire crews stretched 2 hose lines and set up a water supply.…

It's important to apply now because the utility moratorium on power/heat shut-offs ends October 1, 2020. Fairfield Social Services is now making appointments to assist Fairfield residents with applications for the Connecticut Energy Assistance Program. Energy assistance pays for a household's primary heating source such as oil, natural gas, electricity, propane, kerosene, coal, wood and wood pellets on behalf of eligible households. The amount of heat assistance may not be sufficient to cover a household's entire winter heating cost. Homeowners and renters may apply. 2020-10-13@4:00pm--#Stratford CT-- An armed robbery occurred at the Chase Bank located at 2855 Main Street inStratford. Two (2) unidentified white males entered the bank at approximately 4pm. Onesuspect approached the teller, displayed a handgun and a note demanding money. The secondmale stood away from the teller windows. The pair fled with approximately $1,000 dollars.Suspect one is a white male with blue eyes and short hair. He was last seen wearing jeans and ablack hooded sweatshirt and a black mask. Grant For Metro-North Study

Representatives Jim Himes (CT-04) and Jahana Hayes (CT-05) announced the Western Connecticut Council of Governments received a $400,000 federal grant from the Department of Transportation. The Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant will be used to perform a study on the best method to finance improvements to the Metro-North Danbury and New Canaan Branch Lines.   “Improving Metro-North is essential for our economy and our environment,” said Congressman Jim Himes. “Without efficient public transportation, job creation is hindered and our region’s economic growth is stunted. Plus, a larger Metro-North ridership means fewer cars on the road, cleaner air, and less CO2 emissions. I’m thrilled to see federal dollars invested into Southwest Connecticut’s transportation infrastructure. I look forward to working with Western CT Council of Governments in the future to continue to bring federal investments to the district.”   “I am pleased that the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the Western CT Council of Governments a $400,000 grant for…

Police UPDATE: Fairfield Police received several 911 calls reporting that a bank robberyhad occurred at Peoples Bank, located within Stop & Shop at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff. Officers,K-9’s and Detectives were immediately dispatched. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect fleeing onfoot running out of Stop & Shop and zig-zag westbound through the parking lot between parkedvehicles. The suspect fled prior to police arrival and is believed to have fled the scene in a vehicleafter K-9 tracks were unsuccessful. Bridgeport News: Worth Street Homicide Suspect Captured

#Bridgeport CT-- Detectives arrested Jarrel Baker (DOB: 9/8/97 of Bridgeport, CT) for the September 27th murder of Daron Jones at 90 Worth Street in the City. Baker had been arrested earlier in the day by members of the Tactical Narcotics Teams. At the time of his arrest, Baker was in possession of a handgun. During a subsequent interview with detectives, Baker confessed to using that gun to murder Jones over an ongoing feud with an associate of Jones. In addition to the original gun charges, Baker is charged with Murder, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, and Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit. He is being held on a $1,000,000 bond.  The arrest is the result of outstanding work by members of the Detective Bureau, in particular, the case detective, Martin Heanue. Additionally, the Tactical Narcotics Team, under Lieutenant Cummings and…
