Fire Department UPDATE: At approx. 6.30pm, Stratford Fire Dispatch received a 911 call of a Passenger Boat thathad struck a rock jetty and was disabled. A second 911 call reported that the vessel hadrun aground and was up on the rocks. The 28-foot vessel was carrying 5 individuals.Stratford Fire dispatched a 16’ Zodiac to search the area for the vessel. After approx. 45minutes and no additional information, the Stratford Marine unit was returning to shore.Stratford Car 3 received a call from USCG sector Long Island Sound, stating a distresscall had been received reporting the vessel in the area of the AFCO Army plant outboundon the Housatonic River. Compo Beach to Close when Parking Lots Reach 50%
Westport, CT – Due to the nice weather and warmer than normal temperatures this weekend, increased vehicular and pedestrian traffic has been occurring at Westport beaches. In an abundance of caution and to ensure public health and safety, the parking lots will close tomorrow when they reach 50% capacity, as was done during the summer. We will reopen as spaces become available. Fairfield News: Firefighters Rescue Tree Worker Pinned 60 Feet Up
2020-1107@2:04pm-#Fairfield CT- A tree worker found himself pinned in a tree about sixty feet up in the air on Beacon View Terrace. A branch came down pinning his thigh against another tree. Fairfield Fire called in additional personnel from Fairfield and mutual aid from Bridgeport to assist in the rescue. It took over an hour to free the man. Westport News: Bridgeport Man Held On Shoplifting
#Westport CT--On Sunday September 13, 2020 at approximately 6:06am, officers responded to CVSPharmacy, 397 Post Road East, on a theft complaint. Staff reported that a male and female hadentered the store and begun filling reusable shopping bags with the merchandise. The two did notpay for any of this merchandise and began to walk toward the store’s exit. When questionedby a staff member prior to exiting, the male clenched his fist stating that he had a syringe whichhe would stab staff with. The two then fled in a waiting vehicle. It was later determined thatthe pair had stolen approximately $900.00 in merchandise.
