The male asked for money and as the driver was about to drive away the homeless male took out a canister and sprayed an unknown substance believed to be pepper spray at the driver. The driver pulled into the 7-11 and called the police. He is being treated at the hospital. Police UPDATE: At 1:58pm Fairfield Police received a call from Peoples Bank located at 1160 Kings Highway Cutoff of aBank Robbery. The Peoples Bank Branch is located within the Stop & Shop grocery store at that location.The suspect had fled prior to police arrival.Officers were dispatched and upon arrival bank employees reported just minutes’ prior, a lone whitemale (possibly Asian), described as approximately 5’7” wearing a blue mask and red hat walked up tothe teller window and handed over an envelope. On the envelope was a hand written note foremployees to cooperate, confirming it was a robbery. No weapon was shown and there was no evidenceof a weapon present.
