Westport, CT - Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer A. Fava announced that online spring and summer program registration will begin Wednesday, March 18, at 9 a.m. Walk-in, fax and mailed registration, and continuing online registration, will begin on Monday, March 23 at the Parks and Recreation Sales Office at Longshore Club Park (260 Compo Road South) during regular business hours (M-F, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm). Ms. Fava reminds residents that many programs will fill quickly and the fastest way to register will be online. A login and password are necessary to access your account.  Residents needing to edit their account should log in and make the necessary changes or contact Parks and Recreation by email at recreation@westportct.gov prior to March 12.…

Bridgeport News: Person Shot

2020-03-11@11:36pm--#Bridgeport CT-- Neighbors called police to report they heard people yelling on Staples Street (Wood Avenue side), then shots rang out and a person was lying in the road.  Police were quick to the scene but found no one in the street.  About 15 minutes later police word from an area hospital (I didn't hear which one) that gunshot victim arrived at the hospital in a private vehicle.  Officers located evidence on Staples Street and are preserving the crime scene until detectives arrive to further investigate.

Norwalk News: Burglary Arrest

2020-03-07@3:45am--#Norwalk CT--Officers responded to a residence on Raymond Terrace or a burglary. The homeowner observed an unknown party enter a shed located to the rear of the property. The suspect had stolen fishing poles from the shed, and the homeowner provided a description to officers as well as showed them a video of the suspect.   A description of the suspect was relayed to other officers that were working. An officer on patrol observed an individual matching the description enter Ludlow Commons, an elderly housing complex. Inside, officers located Jose Crespo who was identified as the person seen on the video and arrested. WESTPORT, Conn. – Human Services Director Elaine Daignault announced today that the Westport Youth Commission (WYC) is seeking students currently in grades 8-11 as well as adults who are interested in serving for the 2020-2021 school year. Ms. Daignault stated, “The Youth Commission serves as a public forum for youth issues and advocates for youth needs and concerns in the community.  Its 30 members, 15 students, and 15 adults, are appointed by the First Selectman. Westport News: Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

2020-03-08@1:14am--While on routine patrol at approximately, an officer observed a vehicle stopped hazardously; partially in the traveled portion of the roadway on the Sherwood Island Connector. Upon contact with the vehicle, the operator and sole occupant was found to be asleep. He was later identified as Carl Bryant. Seen in Bryant’s hand upon the officer’s initial approach was an item immediately recognizable to the officer as a bag of narcotics; suspected crack cocaine later found to weigh approximately two grams. Also observed on the adjacent front passenger seat was a glass pipe commonly used for smoking narcotic substances as well as additional narcotics; approximately twenty-four wax folds containing suspected heroin.
