Shots fired- Bridgeport teen arrested

Police investigating a report of shots fired Thursday arrested  a 19-year-old with a loaded gun. At about 3 p.m. Thursday, Officers Anthony Caiazzo and Alfred Cesar were on patrol in the area of Bassick High School when they heard four or five gunshots. They heard from a witness that after the loud bangs a man in a black hooded sweatshirt ran down Colorado Street. They also learned from a Bassick security guard that the shots happened in the area of Wentfield Park. As they checked the area, they observed a Pontiac Grand Prix occupied by three males with a fourth standing at the driver’s window. When the fourth man saw police, he walked off briskly. He didn’t get far. Officer…

Depressing Day?

A lot of suicide attempts in the area today.  We won't report specifics but a Fairfield man today was rushed to the hospital after intentionally swallowing anti-freeze to end his life.  Firefighters in Bridgeport cut down a person who attempted to hang themselves, performed CPR and saved their life.  In one town a 13 year old was transported for evaluation for suicidal thoughts and in another town (towns intentionally not posted) another 13 year old intentionally attempted to overdose on her psychiatric medication.  There appears to be an increase in psychiatric calls but earlier in November 2012 Governor Malloy cut $80 million to health and human services.

Citizens Share Thoughts On Snow Removal In Bridgeport CT

Citizens from all walks of life shared their thoughts on how the city handled the snow removal during the Blizzard of 2013.  The meeting ran over the hour allotted time and was extended another half hour.  It appears most views were shared as there was no opposition as the city council moved into their meeting without objection after the half hour extension.  I've condensed the two and a half hour discussion to under ten minutes.  It was very apparent everyone's ideas were very well thought out and worth consideration.

Garage Fire at Howard Avenue Bridgeport

Just before midnight a Bridgeport Police Officer on routine patrol discovered this garage on fire at the corner of Beechwood Avenue and Howard Avenue.  They soon reported the exact location as 1159 Howard Avenue.  As firefighters were on the way they also let the firefighters know that there was another garage right behind it that was of brick construction and wood roof on fire yet but firefighters did not let that happen.  Firefighters quickly went to work and prevented a complete loss of this two bay garage. Special thanks to Chris Clarke from firstduephotography.smugmug.com for this photo.  Check out the great work they do covering the city!  Of course a great job to the Bridgeport Fire Department for keeping this…
