A child was struck by a car on Thompson Street at the entrance to McKinley School in Fairfield. First responders arrived and reported the child was alert, sitting up, and talking with them at the scene. A burnt-out coffee pot in a utility closet on the 4th floor at Seton Hall triggered a fire alarm at Sacred Heart University, located at 5151 Park Avenue in Fairfield. Firefighters responded and determined the alarm was caused by the overheated coffee pot. False alarms at the university are often triggered by items such as curling irons or burnt popcorn.

On March 2, 2026, at approximately 9:00 p.m., Fairfield Police responded to a report of an armed robbery at News Express, located at 200 Tunxis Hill Road in Fairfield. The store was open at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. Police stated, “The investigation remains active, and we are unable to provide additional details at this time, as doing so could impact the integrity of the investigation.” The case remains under investigation.
