(Bridgeport, CT – Aug 12, 2013) – A 62-year-old city man suffered serious injuries after he was run over by an tractor-trailer.

The accident happened at about 2 p.m. Monday. According to Officer John Perry, a traffic unit investigator, the semi was backing into MJ Metal Inc. in the area of Wordin Avenue when the victim, who was riding a scooter, somehow ended up beneath it. The circumstances remain under investigation.

The victim was conscious and alert but suffered significant injuries to his pelvis and lower extremities, Perry said.

He was taken to Bridgeport Hospital.

Trumbull Police, which has an officer certified in truck inspections, was assisting city police in the investigation.

The victim is a Bridgeport resident.
