#Bridgeport, CT – Nov. 1, 2013 – Police Thursday night arrested a suspect in a bank robbery that happened Tuesday on North Main Street.

On Thursday evening, Detective Michael Fiumidinisi received information from Officer Roderick Doda about the identity of the man who robbed the TD North Bank located on North Main Street. Doda had received the information from a community member who had provided information to the officer in the past.

The individual then provided Detective Fiumidinisi with a statement identifying the suspect and also disclosing the address where he could be located.  Detectives Fiumidinisi, Sean Ronan, Dennis Martinez, and Sgt. James Pianello, accompanied by Patrol Division officers, went to 305 Norland Avenue and took the suspect into custody without incident.

A video statement was obtained from the suspect in which he confessed to committing the robbery.

Police charged Jose Vieira, 40, of 305 Norland St., with second-degree robbery and fifth-degree larceny. Bond was set at $100,000.
