Six  firefighters were promoted and a class of nine new fire recruits were sworn in by Mayor Bill Finch Thursday evening at the City Hall chambers those promoted were:

Assistant Chief Harold Clarke, a 27-year veteran; Assistant Chief James Cook, a 27-year veteran; Lts. Jeffrey Cordisco, 14 years, Dennis Gergley, 14 years, and Damaso Morales, 24 years, and Pumper Engineer Michael DeFranzo, seven years.

New Recruits ceremoniously sworn in were: Marcos Ramos; Darnell Tobin; Timothy Hannigan; Charles Ovesny; Loren Dailey; Martin Rodriguez; Terry Mincy; Gregory Prior and Thomas Varanelli.  They will be re-sworn in after graduation from the academy.
