Trumbull News: Trumbull’s 3rd Car Fire Today

4:00pm--#Trumbull CT-- Trumbull has posted a trifecta on car fires today.  Earlier there was a car involved in a carjacking the day before was found on fire at the Westfield/Trumbull Mall on Main Street.  A second call went out at 3:49pm to assist the fire marshal already on scene, in the overflow parking lot on the Madison Avenue side.  We aren't sure if it is the same car from earlier. 3:40pm--#Stratofrd CT-- A "roll off" dumpster struck the railroad overpass at East Main and Frog Pond Lane.  Metro North requested to the scene as radio reports say damage is significant.  Anyone with a picture post it here. State Representative Christine Ayala turned her self in to the State Police barracks in Bethany today for voting fraud charges.  She was released on a promise to appear in Superior Court on October 7th.  She and her lawyer Guy Soraes declined comment. 3:05pm--#Fairfield CT--A pedestrian has been hit by a car on Burroughs Road and the vehicle has fled the scene in the direction towards the soccer fields.  It is a tan vehicle according to radio reports.  First responders are just arriving on scene.  UPDATE: The striking vehicle has just returned to the scene. Ribbon Cutting At Stan’s Jamaican Kitchen

Today was Stan's Jamaican Kitchen's official ribbon  cutting.  Located at 16 Tunxis Hill Road (next to DeSantie Tire) near the Bridgeport town line on North Avenue.  Stan's Jamaican Kitchen is Fairfield's only Jamaican restaurant.  I'm yet to try it with my family but a couple of my Facebook friends have already said they have the best oxtail anywhere.  Karen Gordon is the owner and has named it Stan''s in honor of her father.  They are open 11am to 8pm, and take out is their main business although there is a counter for eating in. Today’s Car Fire, Carjacking, Bank Robbery

11:02am--#Trumbull CT--A car that involved in a carjacking outside the Trumbull Marriott yesterday was found on fire at the Westfield Shopping Mall on Main Street.  Police are trying to determine if was this car was used in a bank robbery at the People's Bank on Madison Avenue moments earlier.  Special thanks to our 'Burb Reporter  Rita DeSabella for  the photo! On Thursday, Oct. 9 the Coach will offer a beginner’s class in Microsoft Office PowerPoint 2007 from 10 – 12 PM, followed by an intermediate class in PowerPoint 2007 from 1-3 PM. Contact the Westport Department of Human Services for specific course description information. The Career Coach is a “training center” tour bus equipped with ten wireless computer labs offering free computer classes to residents in the greater Norwalk area.
