#Bridgeport, Conn. (November 10, 2015 Bridgeport Police Press Release) – The Bridgeport Police Department announced the arrest of a man on several criminal and motor vehicle charges following a car chase.  Around 12:00 a.m. on Monday, November 9, police officers observed multiple cars stopped in the middle of Rt. 8/25 – near Exit 5 – preparing to illegally street race.  Upon activating the police car lights and siren, the vehicles dispersed. However, one vehicle in particular – a white Buick Lacrosse with Virginia plates – left at a very high rate of speed, and swerving across all lanes of the highway.

The vehicle operator attempted to avoid arrest, but the police car pulled in front of the Buick and was able to steer it toward the side of the highway.  When the officer got out of the police car to speak to the operator of the Buick, he dipped around the officer and drove off. The Buick continued down the highway with its lights off, driving at speeds above 120 MPH. But the officer was able to get a look at the vehicle operators face, and got the license plate number.

The officer pursuing the vehicle reported it to dispatch, and exited the highway for safety. Shortly thereafter, police officers reported that the vehicle was found parked near the corner of Center St. and Harral Ave.  After running the plates, and finding out that it is an Enterprise rental, it was concluded that Wladimir Arce (1/10/1994) – son of the person whose name the vehicle was rented under – was operating the vehicle. At approximately 2:30 a.m., Mr. Arce turned himself in at Bridgeport Police Headquarters (300 Congress St.).

Mr. Arce has been charged with the following criminal acts:

Taking Vehicle Without Owners Permission.    Interfering with Police. Bond for these criminal acts is set at $5,000.

Mr. Arce has been charged with the following motor vehicle infractions:

Failure to Maintain Lane.    Reckless Operation.   Failure to have Lights Lit.    Engaging Police in Pursuit.

Bond for these motor vehicle infractions has been set at $5,000.
