UPDATE:

Police said Cabot L. Barksdale 5/3/54 of 85 Concord Street Bridgeport was operating a Ford Edge SUV south on Park Avenue then turn west on Garden Street striking a male bicyclist traveling northbound on Garden Street.  Witnesses said the Ford Edge accelerated and struck the bicyclist and dragged him about ten feet.  The bicyclist lay under the SUV.  When officers arrived they found Cabot outside the vehicle smelling of an alcoholic beverage and highly agitated that he had just struck a person.  A pint of vodka and a cold 12 ounce can of beer were found in the driver’s seat area.  Patrol arrested Barksdale for driving Under the Influence.

The injured bicyclist suffered a collapsed lung and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital.  At this writing he is a John Doe. No ID was found on the male. He is described as a Hispanic male possibly in his late forties or fifties.

 

10:22pm–#Bridgeport CT– A bicyclist was struck and pinned under an SUV at Cottage and Park Avenue.  Firefighters were able to quickly free him.  The bicyclist was reported to be in serious condition.  The driver of the SUV was also transported to the hospital.  The accident recreation team will be on scene and you can expect delays in the area.
