Fatal Merritt Crash With Car Fire

UPDATE: State Police accident report says a car operated by Hongying Tian of Avon, CT was traveling at a high rate of speed when she struck a vehicle operated by Ambroos Pilla of New York, New York.  Tian's car traveled into the median, breached the metal guide rail and struck a large tree, then traveled across both lanes of Route 15 into the grassy shoulder and came to a rest against several trees and brush.  The police report said Pilla's car suffered minor damage no was he injured.  Tian was ejected from the vehicle and was transported to Norwalk Hospital by Norwalk EMS where she was pronounced dead.  State police are asking that if anyone who may have witnessed the accident to…

Bridgeport News: Demolition Begins On Boys and Girls Club

#Bridgeport CT-- Demolition began on the Wakeman's Boys and Girl Club located at 555 Madison Avenue today. This was a long time in coming said Mayor Ganim. City Council Member Jeanette Herron said City council member Tom McCarthy began the push for a new club for over fourteen years and Jeanette has been pushing for over twelve years. A fire tore through the club in February of this year. Mayor Ganim credited state representative Steven Stafstrom with maintaining the money earmarked for this project from being cut by the state. Wakeman's Boys and Girls Club Board of Trustees Jack Collins said he expects the new club's ribbon cutting sometime in the end of 2019.
