Fairfield News: Post Road Incident

#Fairfield CT--At approximately 6:02 PM on 07/21/2021, Fairfield Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Charles Schwab Offices located at 1248 Post Road The Charles Schwab Security Hotline called Fairfield Police to report that they received a call from an employee who stated someone had a gun to her head. The hotline identified the location as the Charles Schwab offices located at 1248 Post Rd. Multiple police patrols, supervisors, and detectives immediately responded to the scene. Patrols temporarily shut down traffic to secure the scene while attempting to make contact with employees inside the building. Bridgeport News: Furniture Store Sexual Assault Arrest

#Bridgeport CT-- On July 20, 2021, Members of the Fugitive Task force and Special Victim Unit took Hennawi Salem into custody on an arrest warrant for sexual assault in the 4th Degree. Salem was arrested at his place of business Salem Furniture, 120 Porter St Bridgeport, CT . Salem is accused of luring a female customer to the basement of his furniture store. Once in the basement, the female was asked to lay down and test the mattress. Salem told the female the mattress was free, then sexually assaulted her. Salem was previously arrested on September 25th, 2020 for Sexual Assault 3rd, Unlawful restraint 2nd and Risk of Injury to a Child, after three female victims made similar accusations.

PFA Ban

Governor Ned Lamont today held a bill signing ceremony at the edge of the Farmington River in Windsor to commemorate the adoption of a new state law banning the use of firefighting foam and food packaging that contain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. Commonly known as PFAS, the large group of man-made “forever chemicals” are used in a variety of materials and products around the world. Specifically, the new law, Public Act 21-191, An Act Concerning the Use of PFAS Substances in Class B Firefighting Foam, bans the use of PFAS-containing firefighting foam, or “AFFF,” effective October 1, 2021.
