Operation Lifesaver
Operation Lifesaver, Inc., the nonprofit public safety education and awareness organization launched a national public awareness advertising campaign in Connecticut. Operation Lifesaver, Inc. (OLI) is dedicated to reducing collisions, fatalities, and injuries at highway-rail crossings and trespassing on or near railroad tracks. The three video ads, ranging from 15 to 60 seconds, highlight rail safety protocols and aim to increase awareness among rail passengers and pedestrians. The OLI ads will run on Connecticut TV stations until mid-June for the first time. “Trains can run on any track at any time in either direction. Congratulations to police officers Daniel Mendez and Keith Ruffin on their retirement last week. Thank you for your service!The Bridgeport Police force should be 425 but with 2 more retiring brings the force down to 307 officers. Only 12 are expected to graduate from the academy to replace them.
Stratford News: Internet Ad Robbery
On 04/23/2022 the Stratford Police Department investigated a robbery in the Town of Stratford. It was determined the victim placed an online Facebook Market Place advertisement to sell an IPHONE. The suspect and victim met at a prearranged location where the suspect assaulted the victim and stole his IPHONE. The victim observed a handgun during the robbery. The Stratford Police Detective Bureau with the assistance of the Bridgeport Police Department Task Force identified the main suspect as SHAHIEM DONALD(DOB 10/09/2003) of Ansonia. It was later determined Donald and his co-conspirators would contact various victims throughout Fairfield County online to arrange to either buy or sell IPHONES and other items.
