Bridgeport News: Structure Fire

2022-05-11@3:04am-- #Bridgeport CT-- The Bridgeport ECC received a call regarding a fire on Maplewood Avenue. BFD units responded to a structure fire and upon arrival found a commercial business with a residential apartments above. First units reported heavy fire on the second floor. Two burn victim was transported to the hospital, as well as one other with smoke inhalation. A second alarm was called due to the need for additional staffing, The fire extended into the third floor. Fairfield Fire Dept assisted with coverage in the city. The fire was declared under control at 3:45. The fire is currently under investigation with the Fire Marshal’s Office and no injuries occurred to any firefighters.

Westport News: Riverside Avenue Road Closure

Westport, CT - Public Works Director Peter Ratkiewich announced that, due to recent weather conditions, Riverside Avenue between Charles Street and Railroad Place will be closed to traffic between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM on Wednesday, May 11 and between 6:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Thursday, May 12 in order to facilitate final paving of the roadway after a long reconstruction project.  All persons wishing to drop off passengers on either side of the Saugatuck Train Station are advised to enter the station through Ferry Lane on the south side of the station.  Those that wish to drop off on the North (Westbound) side of the Station are advised to continue driving on Ferry Lane past the Eastbound platform, go under…

BridgeportNews: HOMICIDE #7

#Bridgeport CT--On May 9Th, 2022 at approximately 8:30 pm the Bridgeport Police Emergency Operations Center (EOC) received reports of a shooting within the 100 block of Washington Terrace. Upon arrival, patrol officers located a 38-year-old Bridgeport man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. Medics arrived and transported the victim to Bridgeport Hospital where he later died. Currently, the Detective Bureau’s Homicide & Identification Units are actively investigating and processing the crime scene. They are also in the process of notifying next of kin.
