Fairfield Police Arrest Two Following Investigation into Greenfield Hill Residential Burglaries
Fairfield, CT – On the evening of 9/24/2026, Fairfield Police arrested two individuals following an extensive investigation into a series of residential burglaries in the Greenfield Hill area. Arrested were Levan Aleksidze, age 40, and Mamuka Chaganava, age 47, both of Brooklyn, New York. Both were charged with Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the First Degree and held on $100,000 bonds.
Recently, Fairfield experienced several residential burglaries with similar circumstances in the Greenfield Hill area. In each incident, the homes were unoccupied at the time of the burglary, with the suspects targeting high-end jewelry. Throughout the investigation, members of the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau worked extensively to identify those believed to be responsible.
As part of the investigation, detectives utilized Fairfield’s automated license plate reader (ALPR) system and were able to identify a vehicle operated by the suspects after they fled the scene of one of the burglaries. That ALPR record, along with additional evidence and traditional investigative techniques, assisted detectives in identifying the suspects and ultimately taking them into custody. Detectives also worked with regional law enforcement partners as the investigation developed.
On 9/24/2026, as part of the ongoing investigation, Fairfield Detectives were conducting one of several targeted burglary details in the Greenfield Hill area. Working alongside members of the Bridgeport Police Auto Theft Task Force, they located the suspect vehicle traveling through the area and conducted surveillance as it traveled through several residential roads. Investigators observed activity consistent with the occupants canvassing the area for another potential burglary and moved in to stop the vehicle before they could act. Members of the Fairfield Police Patrol Division assisted detectives and task force officers in safely stopping the vehicle and taking both occupants into custody.
Aleksidze and Chaganava were transported to Fairfield Police Headquarters, where they were each charged with Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in the First Degree and held on a $100,000 bond. The Fairfield Police Department would like to recognize the extensive work of the Detective Bureau throughout this investigation, as well as the Patrol Division, the Bridgeport Police Auto Theft Task Force, the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, and other regional law enforcement partners who assisted as the case developed. The investigation required sustained surveillance, analysis of investigative data, coordination between agencies, and the use of both traditional police work and modern law enforcement technology.
“Our residents deserve to feel safe in their homes, and when a pattern of crime develops in Fairfield, we are going to dedicate the resources necessary to address it,” said Chief Michael Paris. “This was truly a team effort between our detectives, patrol officers, and our law enforcement partners. I am proud of the work they did to identify those believed to be responsible and intervene before they could act again.”
The investigation into the residential burglaries remains active and ongoing. Fairfield Police Detectives continue to examine evidence and information developed during the investigation. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, additional details cannot be released at this time, as doing so could hinder further investigative efforts. The Fairfield Police Department remains committed to using every available investigative resource to identify those responsible for crimes in our community and, whenever possible, intervene before additional crimes occur.
