Learning Center donates truck full of food
Creative Starts Learning Center in Stratford, CT worked together to collect enough food to fill a small pick-up truck that we donated to Sterling House Food Bank on Friday November 22, 2013. Both children and staff brought in food to donate to those less fortunate during the upcoming holiday season.

Man fears he would harm children calls police on himself.
On October 27th, 2013 at 23:39, Fairfield Police responded to a call for assistance at 80 Post Road. Upon arrival, officers located Joseph Russo (dob 12/31/68) of 136 Longview Avenue Fairfield, CT. He was cooperative however appeared to be distraught and provided disturbing details of his intent to harm students at one of our elementary schools. Russo detailed he had thought this for years. Russo notified us of his intent that one day he was going to carry out his actions. Russo wanted immediate help regarding his troubling thoughts so he wouldn’t act on his current belief of hurting school children. The subject depicted in the building, described as a light skinned black, or Hispanic male, in his 30's, with a freshly shaven head, was found wandering through office areas inaccessible to the public. When questioned, he stated he was looking for a doctor’s office. Despite being escorted to the floor of the building where doctors are located, the subject returned multiple times, and was ultimately located behind the victims desk, at which time he fled the building with her purse. City 911 Center Staff Collects Winter Coats for City Children
(Bridgeport, CT -- Nov. 25, 2013) – Telecommunication operators in the city’s 911 center collected more than 50 winter jackets during a pre-Thanksgiving coat drive. The TCOs will collaborate with the police Community Services Division to distribute the coats at a city school. “Our 911 Center staff deserves a lot of credit,” said Mayor Bill Finch. “They are the calming voice on the other end of the line when a person calls 911. It’s such a demanding job.
