DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Utility Scams

#Westport Connecticut--The Westport Police Department is warning local businesses about recent utility company scams. In these scams, the businesses received calls from someone claiming to be the electric company advising them that their payment was overdue and power shut off was imminent unless the problem was rectified. In order to avoid the shut off during service hours, the owner/manager was asked to make a payment within thirty minutes. Because that could not be done in time, they were asked to purchase a prepaid money card and then provide the scratch off numbers to the caller or wire money via MoneyGram in order to pay the outstanding bill. Bridgeport News: Man Shot In The Back Twice UPDATE

8:55pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut-- An East Avenue man answered his door and was shot twice in the back.  He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital and is in stable condition.  Radio reports said he is not cooperating with police.     8:55pm--#Bridgeport Connecticut--Un hombre ha recibido dos disparos en la espalda y se encuentra en Bridgeport Hospital. Bridgeport News: Apartment Fire

10:39am--#Bridgeport CT--Dozens were evacuated from the Fairbridge Apartments at 50 Freemont Street when fire broke out on the 3rd floor. A number of residents made it to safety including several that are wheel chair bound. A child and elderly woman were treated by EMS.
