Health District Offers Back to School Immunization Clinic Naugatuck Valley Health District will host a special children’s vaccination clinic to help get district students up to date before the new school year begins. The immunization clinic will be held from 9AM-3 PM on Tuesday, August 23 at the district office at 98 Bank Street in Seymour. Appointments are required. A parent or guardian must accompany the student.

Depending on a child’s age and grade level, different vaccinations are required to enter school. For instance, children entering kindergarten in Connecticut this year need to have at least four doses of the diptheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTap) vaccine, at least three doses of the polio vaccine, two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine, three doses of hepatitis B vaccine, two doses of varicella (or chicken pox) vaccine, two doses of the hepatitis A vaccine, one dose of the pneumococcal vaccine and one dose of the Haemophilus influenzae type B vaccine.

Please consult your school nurse in regarding the vaccines required for your child. There will be a charge of $20 per vaccine for those children under 19. Costs for vaccines for older individuals vary. Payment is by cash, credit or debit card. Please bring your child’s vaccine record. The Naugatuck Valley Health District office is located at 98 Bank Street, Seymour, and serves residents of the municipalities of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour and Shelton. State Police Detectives Investigate New Haven Police Officer- Involved Shooting

UPDATE: The New Haven Police Officer involved in the shooting is Ofc. Brian Jackson, a 4 year member of the force. Any questions regarding personnel matters should be directed to the City of New Haven. The investigation continues and the individual shot remains in stable condition.

 

NEW HAVEN, CT. (August 16, 2016): Connecticut State Police Detectives from Central District Major Crime are currently on-scene investigating a shooting incident that involved a New Haven Police Officer earlier today.

On August 16, 2016 at approximately 10:09 a.m., Officers from the New Haven Police Department along with members of the New Haven Fire Department were dispatched to 480 Ferry Street in New Haven for a reported active disturbance. The subject involved in the disturbance was located in the first floor lobby of the building. The subject charged at the New Haven Police Officer with a knife at which time the officer fired several shots from his service weapon. The subject and the officer were transported to Yale New Haven Hospital. The officer was transported as a precaution.

New Haven State’s Attorney Patrick Griffin requested that State Police Detectives from Central District Major Crime Squad respond to the scene and assumed the investigation. The subject has been identified as Roberto Orsini-Rodriguez (DOB: 12/3/77). The identity of the New Haven Police Officer is not being released at this time.

Bridgeport News: Person Shot

UPDATE: Shot in just below the knee cap and it did happen near Beechwood Avenue.

2:35pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A person just showed up at St. Vincent’s Hospital with a gunshot wound by private vehicle.  They are saying it happened on the West Side although we did have reports of shots fired near the park at Beechwood and Norman Street.

Westport Arrests

#Westport News:  On August 10, 2016, Westport Officers responded to a Cricket Lane address to assist in the recovery of a motor vehicle that had been taken without the owner’s permission. While on scene, Officers observed that a window pane on the front door was shattered and there were pry marks by the door knob. The homeowner was contacted and he stated that the damage to the door was new. The homeowner said that no one should be at the residence, but advised that his adult son, Ian Parker, may have entered. He requested that Officers check the inside of the home. Officers knocked on the door but no one responded. As Officers were making entry, Ian Parker came to door. Parker was detained while Officers checked the inside of the residence. A female, Marianna Perez, was found hiding in the attic. Illegal narcotics as well as drug paraphernalia were seen in plain view. It was determined that Mr. Parker had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Appear and that Ms. Perez was violating an active protective order which barred her from being at Cricket Lane. Ms. Perez was arrested and charged with Violation of a Protective Order as well as Possession of Narcotics and Tampering with Evidence. She was held on a $10,000 bond with a court date of August 11, 2016.

 

#Westport News:  El 10 de Agosto, oficiales de Westport respondieron a una recuperacíon de vehiculo en Cricket Lane, había sido tomado sin permiso del dueño. Mientras que en la escena, los oficiales observaron que un vidrio en la ventanale la puerta esta destrozada y habia marcas en la manija de la puerta. el dueño de la casa fue contactado y índico que el daño a la puerta era nuevo. El dueño de casa dijo que nadien debe estar en la residencia, pero advirtió su hijo adulto , Ian Parker, puede haber entrado. Él pidio que los oficiales entren a investigar. Los oficiales golpiaron la puerta  y nadien respondió. Cuando oficiales empesaron a entrar, Ian Parker fue a la puerta. Parker fue detenido mientras que los oficiales revisaron el interior de la residencia. Una mujer, Marianna Pérez, fue encontrada escondida en el ático con narcóticos ilegales y parafernalia de drogas fueron vistos a simple vista. Se determinó que el Sr. Parker tenía una orden de detencíon pendiente por no presentarse y que la Sr. Pérez estaba violando una orden de detencíon activa, que le impidió estar en Cricket Lane. Sr. Pérez fue detenida y acusada de violacíon de una orden de protección, así como posesión de narcóticos y manipulacíon de evidencia. Ella lleva una fianza de $10,000 con fecha de corte del 11 de Agosto 2016.

11:52am–#Stratford Connecticut– An elderly woman and her health care professional were shaken but not injured in this multi car accident that sent their car into the Midas Car Care at 910 Barnum Avenue Cutoff.  There were no reported injuries.

Bridgeport News: Adults & Children Hurt In Crash Involving City Bus

3:44pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– Nine adults and three children were injured when a Jeep Cherokee allegedly ran a stop sign at the intersection of Maple and Kossuth Street hitting a city bus owned by the Greater Bridgeport Transit.  The bus then hit a silver minivan and several parked cars.  Assistant Fire Chief Harold Clarke told me the injuries ranged from back injuries, strains to bumps and bruises.  The firefighters went into mass casualty mode which is any incident in which emergency medical services resources, such as personnel and equipment, are overwhelmed by the number patients.  The firefighters and EMS prioritize the injured, the most severely injured treated and transported first.

3:44pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– Nueve adultos y tres niños resultaron heridos cuando un Jeep Cherokee presuntamente no paro en la intersección de Kossuth y Maple street y choco con un autobús de la cuidad de Bridgeport. El autobús luego de chocar con el Jeep tambien choco con varios autos estacionados en la calle. El assistente jefe de bomberos, Harold Clarke me dijo que los heridos varío de lesiones en la espalda, golpes y moretónes. Los bomberos entran el el modo de victimas en masa que es cualquier incidente en el que los recursos de servicios de emergencua médica, tales como personal y equipo no tenian suficientes por el numero de pacientes. Los bomberos y EMS prioridad a lor heridos, los más grave se transportaron primero.
