#Norwalk Connecticut–On July 21, 2016, the Norwalk Department of Police Service arrested Pedro Salinas at theNorwalk Courthouse where he was appearing on another criminal matter. The Special Victims Unit began an investigation on May 26, 2016 after receiving a report of child abuse from the Department of Children and Families. The investigation revealed that a two-year-old female had been brought to the Norwalk Hospital after suffering what was believed to be medical condition.
The child was later transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital due to the seriousness of the child’s condition. SVU Detectives learned that the child had been living with family at Salinas’s residence and that Salinas had assaulted the child causing serious injuries. Based on the investigation, a warrant was issued for Salinas.

#Bridgeport, CT – The Bridgeport Bluefish today announced that they would like to honor local police by giving all officers two complimentary tickets to the game on Monday, July 25. All officers will also be recognized during the game.
“In light of recent incidents around the country, we wanted to thank all of our local police officers for their service here in Southwestern Connecticut,” says Bluefish General Manager Jamie Toole.
Game time on Monday, July 25th will be 7:12pm with The Ballpark at Harbor Yard gates opening at 6:12pm. Police officers can show their badges at the Bluefish Box Office to receive two complimentary Box Seat tickets.

On 07/18/16 at approximately 10:00am, Westport Officers were dispatched to the rear of Five Guys Restaurant on a report of theft of cooking oil. Responding units were given a description of the suspect vehicle as a white van with New York license plates. Upon the Officers arrival, they found suspects Alondra Aracil and Jonathan Garces actively siphoning cooking oil from the tank. Aracil and Garces were taken into custody. Aracil gave a fake name and date of birth which resulted in the additional charge of Criminal Impersonation.

10:51pm–#cttraffic–#Bridgeport Connecticut–State Police were following this white Mini Cooper since exit 8 on traffic cameras for cutting off tractor trailers. They then pursed it in the Pembroke and Stillman Street area until the car came to a stop on Pembroke Street. Police are looking for a thin black male wearing a multi colored shirt according to radio reports.
Bridgeport, CT – Mayor Joe Ganim today announced the appointment of Kimberly Staley as Bridgeport Assistant Chief Administrative Officer. Staley recently left her position as Vice President and Director of client services with KRA Corporation where she managed all client-focused services, including contractual agreements. As Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Staley’s duties will include leading the planning, coordination, and execution of targeted programs and operations to bring a fresh approach to the challenges Bridgeport is facing. Staley will earn an annually salary of $127,555.
“I am looking forward to the unique perspective Kim will bring to the administration,” said Mayor Ganim. “She called Bridgeport her home, before she called it her place of employment so her input comes from firsthand experience and genuine passion. I am also certain her over 25 years of experience in workforce development and career education will promote a lot of positive change to the development in Bridgeport.”

Bridgeport has helped to shape my perspective and values, and I am humbled to have the opportunity to give back to the community that has meant so much to me and my family. As a Bridgeport native, Kim Staley is a product of the Bridgeport public school system. She was raised in Father Panik Village and the PT Barnum public housing communities. Staley’s career encompasses over 25 years of leadership, management and program development. She has provided strategic leadership, direction, and administrative and fiscal oversight for state and federal contracts in South Carolina, Virginia, California, Florida, and Connecticut.
In her most recent position, she served as the Vice President and Director of Client Services with KRA Corporation. In that role Staley was responsible for implementing the local Board of Director’s strategic vision and direction for workforce and career development service functions in Hartford, San Diego, and Oakland. She provided leadership and oversight of the workforce development services for jobseekers and employers. Prior to KRA Corporation, Ms. Staley was the Manager of Workforce and Delivery Systems for the Hampton Roads Workforce Development Board in Norfolk, Virginia.
Staley serves on the executive committee and is the Membership Chairperson of the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP). She also serves as the Vice Chair of the KNOTS Community Development Corporation. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Howard University and earned a Masters of Science in Education Degree, with a Major in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University.
5:22pm–#Fairfield Connecticut–Firefighters were called for a water rescue first at reef near the South Benson Boat Marina at 471 Turney Road. Firefighters thoroughly checked the area and found no boats on the reef. A short time later firefighters received a call from Sea Tow, a private boat rescue company was out with the boat at “Sunken Island” at the end of Fairfield Beach Road. A nearby homeowner told me this was only the second large boat he has know to get caught up and that they had to be from out of the area, it turns out the were from New York.
Police and fire boats were not able to get too close to the boat otherwise they would get caught too. Firefighter had to paddle out in a flat bottomed boat. The boat continued to run the generator and a quantity of carbon monoxide was detected by the firefighters and police were called on board to ensure the captain would turn the generator off , drop anchor and wait until the high tide lifted the boat. A significant of police, fire from surrounding areas as well as the Coast Guard assisted. Assistant Chief Schuyler Sherwood coordinated the efforts.
