DoingItLocal is run by Steve Krauchick. Steve has always had interest with breaking news even as an early teen, opting to listen to the Watergate hearings instead of top 40 on the radio. His interest in news spread to become the communities breaking news leader in Connecticut’s Fairfield County. He strongly believes that the public has right to know what is happening in their backyard and that government needs to be transparent. Steve also likes promoting local businesses.

Bridgeport News: Popular “Gin Mill” Burns

9:20pm--‪#‎Bridgeport‬ Connectictut--A popular "gin mill" as many called it caught fire last night. Formely the old Dolan’s Bar and Grill, also know as Mr. Forty and Carmelinas.  Only DoingItLocal.com was on the scene to cover the firefighters battling the blaze at Golden Hill and Middle Street. The smokey fire slowed traffic on Water Street that was just departing the UCONN game at the Arena. The firefighters were met with heavy fire on the second floor. When I arrive (within 15 minutes) the bulk of the fire was contained and they were breaking out windows to ventilate the structure which appeared to be under construction (the building to the left of the post office). UCONN Game at Arena Will Cause Traffic Delays

Bridgeport Police are asking all ticketholders and NCAA Women’s Basketball fans to give themselves ample time to arrive and park at the Webster Bank Arena for tonight’sNCAA Womens’ Basketball Eastern Regional Final between the UCONN Huskies and the University of Texas Longhorns.  The inclement Weather and rush hour traffic could cause delays to fans arriving for the game.  Tipoff for the game is at 7:00 p.m. with the Arena opening its doors at 6:00 p.m.   Once again, Bridgeport Police will be directing all NCAA attendees headed to the game exiting Route 8/25 Southbound left on East Washington at Main Street to Water Street, then straight to arena.  Electronic signs will be in place directing traffic at those locations.  …
