Bridgeport News: Popular “Gin Mill” Burns

9:20pm–‪#‎Bridgeport‬ Connectictut–A popular “gin mill” as many called it caught fire last night. Formely the old Dolan’s Bar and Grill, also know as Mr. Forty and Carmelinas. Only DoingItLocal.com was on the scene to cover the firefighters battling the blaze at Golden Hill and Middle Street. The smokey fire slowed traffic on Water Street that was just departing the UCONN game at the Arena. The firefighters were met with heavy fire on the second floor. When I arrive (within 15 minutes) the bulk of the fire was contained and they were breaking out windows to ventilate the structure which appeared to be under construction (the building to the left of the post office). Firefighters had the fire and hot spots out within the hour. The fire marshal was requested to the scene to investigate the cause.

I-95 Crash

3:15pm–#cttraffic–#Bridgeport CT–A three car crash I-95 northbound right before that well designed exit 27A. Big traffic backup already.

Robbery-I-95 Heavy Police Presence

11:55am–#cttraffic–#Stratford Connecticut–Police have a very heavy presence, after a robbery of a store at 2420 Main Street. I-95 southbound near 32 is a very slow go right now, partially closed after a pursuit.

Milford News: Mulch/Brush Fire

6:19pm–#Milford Connecticut–Firefighters called to a brush fire at Grillo’s at 589 Bic Drive. They traced it down after a call from another part of town. Heavy smoke according to radio reports.

5:45pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut– A dog was just stolen from a car parked at the Save-A-Lot at 540 Pequonnock Street according to radio reports.

5:11pm–#Bridgeport Connecticut—Police called to Cedar Street where a resident has found a bullet hole in his window when shots were fired in the neighborhood last night.

UCONN Game at Arena Will Cause Traffic Delays

Bridgeport Police are asking all ticketholders and NCAA Women’s Basketball fans to give themselves ample time to arrive and park at the Webster Bank Arena for tonight’sNCAA Womens’ Basketball Eastern Regional Final between the UCONN Huskies and the University of Texas Longhorns. The inclement Weather and rush hour traffic could cause delays to fans arriving for the game. Tipoff for the game is at 7:00 p.m. with the Arena opening its doors at 6:00 p.m.

Once again, Bridgeport Police will be directing all NCAA attendees headed to the game exiting Route 8/25 Southbound left on East Washington at Main Street to Water Street, then straight to arena. Electronic signs will be in place directing traffic at those locations.
